Spot light problems

The shadows haven't been working correctly for my spot lights for a while now. I cannot soften or lighten the shodows cast from any model onto another. Any idea what's going on here? I have the shadow softness set to 100% in the project.

That is a reported bug. I suggest rendering in v18 for now.

That is a reported bug. I suggest rendering in v18 for now.

I'm currently getting that in version 18 as well. I believe it started after a Windows 10 update last years.

That is very interesting.

 

I'm still in Windows 7 and v18 doesn't have the problem.  Have you tried 17? :rolleyes:

A work-around for v19 is to make the Kleig Light wider and set it to "Raytraced". This takes longer to render but is a more realistic-looking shadow.

Thanks Robcat. It worked as shown but I need to tweek it for toon render. Will post back :-)

With toon render, that shadow on the ground looks fine but the shadow on the sphere has a golfball dimpling effect. Also, most of my models can't ne opened in version 17, since I've updated them or created new ones over the last year or two.

Can't be opened? I open models made in v19 in v15.

 

You can cancel through the warning that come up when you do that.

 

Is there something particularly new in these models?

Just to clear it up for me... does the regular z-buffer kleig light work for you in v18?
