Neil Armstrong

Recommended Posts

Starting an Apollo astronaut model. No textures yet. Or hands. I knew I forgot something!

Dreading rigging this guy because he's so... thick! The good news is that he can't bend his back very much and probably doesn't need lip sync poses.

Suggestions appreciated (wireframe to follow in next post).

Zach

When I was little I met Neil Armstrong and shook his hand, but he was just wearing a suit and tie at the time.

Excellent fix Robert! I heartily agree!

Zach, you can lose the helmet, suit and all the extra bulk. Model Neil with a suit and tie. The tie, of course could be long or short... short or long... depending on the specific needs of your story...

This will greatly simplify your rigging process...

Yep that's the ticket!

P.S. Nice model thus far!

Neil has a background now... though NOT a suit and tie...

I tossed in Vernon Zehr's LEM model, which he was kindly enough to lend me. (He told me he got it at a NASA yard sale. Personally, I think he stole it from the Smithsonian.)

Haven't nurnified him yet, and his suit will look more "lived-in" when bump maps are added.

C & C welcome of course, just don't tell him his suit isn't hooked up to his oxygen tank yet.
