Super tutorial, as always! The video was strangely shaky, which I think might be either an encoding or playback issue.

Hey, I learned something!

Adding the bones is handy, although you'd still have to constrain them all. I think my way might be faster and easier.

It seems to have trouble sometimes making all the patches:

I have show backfacing on.

I pulled it apart and it seemed to be dead-ending two splines together where they really ought to be one continuous spline. So there wasn't a legal patch formed, just the spline sides.

The video was strangely shaky, which I think might be either an encoding or playback issue.

Shaky how? And what were you playing it on?

It is fine in the beginning, but by 3:00, the movement of the cursor is rather jerky. It is especially noticeable around 3:30 as you "M" (move) the spring down. It is as if it is showing frames:
3:00 3:01 3:02 2:26 2:27 2:28 2:29 3:07 3:08 3:09 3:10 3:03 3:04 3:05 3:06 3:11 3:12

I'll attach a video (AVI) that I screen captured with CamStudio, which degrades the quality but shows the jerky motion I am seeing.

Here is what I have:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, all patches applied
ASUS G73JW-A1 (laptop), CPU=I7-740CM, Video=NVidia GeForce GTX 460M
Apple Quicktime 7.7.1 (1680.42)
Firefox 10.x (after rebooting, it updated to 11.0).

This may be due to me selecting "Allow Frame Re-ordering" in Quicktime. I usually never do it, but then i read that Apple recommend to always do it unless you are targeting a mobile device.

But i think I'll recompress it without Frame Reordering and replace the file.
