Camera Projection Mapping

Recommended Posts

I have an effect I would like to try, like a video/slide projector projecting imagery onto 3D geometry from it's unique perspective... only then rendering this scene from a 2nd camera. I've read the manual entry called 'Front Projection Maps'(page 546 in mine) and it shows how I need to specify the target for the projection (like the screen) and I can see the effect working- but once I jump to a 2nd-alternate view camera I lose the effect. Wondering if instead of a camera, I should use a light? ... or is there a way?

You can apply an image as a decal from the camera view so it sticks to the object surface.

Look around for "Camera Mapping"

Your light idea could work if you set the surface falloff to zero.

Thanks Rob... how's the saying go... if you ignore the past you are bound to repeat it...?

IT IS as easy as applying a decal via an ACTION... firstly, the decal must exist in the model as an un-applied decal... then in the chor, expand 'show more than drivers' so you can see the decals, and BOB's your uncle! Or should I say... Robcat's your uncle!

History has once again repeated itself... as today I once again needed to apply a decal thru the viewpoint of the camera... resorted to our forum for the 'how to'... and discovered I have now done this THREE TIMES!!! Don't I EVER learn??? Lesson learned is that our little A:M Forum is a GREAT repository for knowledge.
