#416136 2001: A Space Podyssey

Posted by robcat2075 on 04 April 2018 - 06:52 PM

Fifty years ago I saw "2001" and spent the next three years in our basement making cardboard spaceships with robot arms.

This is my space pod movie, now with music and sound effects...

#416270 Community Model- AManda

Posted by John Bigboote on 12 April 2018 - 07:16 AM

Meet AManda!

Jirard had posted a model, and I saw great potential in it and built upon it... and thought it would be a great idea to use as a community building/learning project- see where it goes! I learned a lot by looking at Jirard's wonderful minimal splineage, and my model- if studied, will teach some of my tricks and 'bad habits'...

Now, Jirard was going to take it and add teeth and... whatever from there. For now- it is just a female head. I added minimal bones and some poses. Feel free to DL this model or project and add to it... we'll figure-out a way to combine progress as we go. Show us YOUR tricks!

#416140 2001: A Space Podyssey

Posted by John Bigboote on 05 April 2018 - 11:16 AM

If I may add context...

In 2009 this very Animation:Master Forum held a participation event called 'Pass the Ball'... where the only criteria was to create a short animation where a ball would enter frame left and exit frame right. I collected the clips and edited a short video adding music, sound effects and titles. The entries were humorous and featured many various styles. Here is link to view it:

If there was enough interest in doing something like this again- I would be happy to collect and edit... let's talk about a theme! I'm IN!

Rolling flat tire effect made by rotating a projection map on a tire. The tire itself doesn't need to rotate.

#414541 "Paint fall" Image Contest WIPs

Posted by robcat2075 on 31 October 2017 - 12:47 PM

The T-shirt is a cloth simulation.

I started with the most basic mesh I could spline to approximately form it to the character, then I used the SplitPatch plugin to subdivide it for cloth.

ShirtSubDiv.PNG

There were several cycles of that where I'd run a simulation, decide it was too tight or too lose in places and go back to the low-spline version to make alterations, subdivide and test again.

Since the shirt was made in a T-pose, the character needs to start out that way, too. I also made a pose slider for the character to squish him so that none of him was touching the cloth on the first frame.

This GIF shows the complete simulation starting from the T-pose, expanding the body, and then moving into position for the planned image

#410996 October Surprise - Cloth for leaves. Update: full sim added.

A brief test using SimCloth for Autumn leaves...

UPDATE... here is a shaded wireframe render of the full cloth simulation that takes place before the rendered  portion above.

Although "Show backfaces" is ON, the cloth patches only show their decal on one side in shaded mode.  Not sure why.

#407784 New Soulcage Department A:M commercial

Posted by Elm on 16 February 2016 - 06:02 AM

Hi freaks!

After a pretty long abscence from Animation Master, we finally did a project again with a whole lot of A:M usage involved. It's a (web-) commercial for a company called "Lieferheld" (which some of you might know as "Delivery Hero"). All characters have been modelled, rigged, shaded, animated and rendered with A:M, backgrounds have been created with softimage and Modo. We kindly invite you to have a look at it:

Lots of greetings,

#413688 New character

Here's a character that is so new that the paint is still wet on it!

I pulled this guy out of my hat in a few nights of random splining. He even sports a very basic rig and pose sliders for eyes and eyebrows.

#412978 I'm Martin, and I'm Back

Posted by martin on 04 May 2017 - 10:01 AM

Thanks, guys. Hope to see you around on the forum.

Had the first Hash Inc. meeting in 10 years on Sunday. Jason, Heath, myself, and Steve were in attendance. We discussed which shows we would like to do, and what we expect to get while we're doing them. I suggested we contact the guest artists and invite them to hangout in our booth, maybe sign autographs. I know when we go to a show, it's nice to talk to people like us. Customers are always welcome, especially when most of you are more than customers, you're part of the family.

#410763 What I'm working on...

Posted by itsjustme on 30 September 2016 - 10:48 PM

This character isn't done yet, but it's something I can show that I'm working on.  I'm in the middle of rigging him and reducing/adjusting splines.  After I finish that, I'll texture him, give him better hair and do a little animating with him.

#409041 May 2016 3rd Thursday - Fortune Cookie

Posted by NancyGormezano on 17 May 2016 - 10:27 AM

This months assignment was to illustrate the text found in a fortune cookie of your choice. My fortune cookie said "The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do".

So I rendered out a version in A:M and then hand "painted" the image in photoshop, to get a more scribbly, spontaneous feel. Here's both versions before and after PS.

(EDIT: adjusted levels on hand rendered to bring out the highlights, tad more contrast)

#408989 Recent Tireman animations

Posted by John Bigboote on 11 May 2016 - 02:01 PM

Heyyo-

Recently completed 3- :15second Tireman web-loading-spots for Belle Tire. In these- I strived to get the best render out of A:M that I could, so very little post-processing or compositing is used.

#407264 Forum Like System (Troubleshooting) - Problem Resolved?

Posted by Rodney on 29 December 2015 - 08:15 PM

I'm still receiving reports that the like system isn't working for folks.

The issue on my end is that I don't see any setting that is restricting the use of likes.

If you would be so kind...

Please like this post and comment if you cannot get it to work with the nature of the error.

You can comment if it works as well but that will be assumed by the number of likes.   ;)

Added:  I don't see the 'like' option (presumably) because I'm the originator of this post.
