Using forces to control particles

Recommended Posts

I know this is scientifically inaccurate, sort of a solar wind wrapping around the Earth...

I am having success forcing particles around where I want them with forces. This is a technique I use sometimes on Hair, by making a force in the model(child of the head bone) and aiming it and adjusting the magnitude so it constantly blows the hair into a curl, or a style. HERE- I am using 4 different forces:

Force1- is set to neg200 and 'collects' the particles, forcing them to sort of wrap around the globe.

Force2- is cylindrical, and reinforces force1, the plan was to set it to 'vortex' to get the particles to begin to spiral... need to work on that.(magnitude neg7000)

Force3- is spherical (+1000) and forces the particles out around the globe. I could have eliminated this force and activated 'object collisions', but I am having better luck with less 'pass thrus' this way.

Force4- is just a blower... oscillating back and forth trying to get more randomness here and there.

The render is taking a long time, so just :02 for now...

I can see it a little. Shouldn't it be blowing away from the sun?

NO. I am very non-scientific on this... I have 2 brothers who are scientists, and I used to joke with them on my theory that the moon was made of ice at it's core. They would laugh endlessly and explain that (we scientists) know exactly what it is made of because of it's atomic weight... blah-blah-blah. THEN- I heard that China intends to visit the Moon to see if it's core is made of ice!

I am figuring that the blow-off would go the way of the Earth's orbit as a trail. HERE is todays render (still image)... I put a logo in there too. I'll let this render overnight and see what I have.
