I've been dabbling a little bit with creating rigs from scratch, building fan bone structures, and bone relationships, and I've recently been curious about how to create an effective and flexible squetchy limb (arm, leg, flower stalk, etc.). I've enjoyed following tutorials on basic IK relationships but haven't been able to find information on how to get started with building squetchy "cartoony" rigs. I know I can achieve some passable results with deformation cages but I was wondering how to squetch a single limb. It there a good entry point/tutorial for learning this or a simple model I could pick apart and study?

Thanks!

Chris

Since I'm not currently able to access AM Films and something is now preventing me from finding these tutorials on the forums...here are links to a few tutorials that might help:

https://app.box.com/shared/vg9pux6sm2  (Making An Installation Rig...it shows a very basic squetch addition to a leg)

https://app.box.com/s/5fnwadm0trxkyh1qb2vka28njh1uuhem  (Exponential Decay......shows a method to soften IK pop)

https://app.box.com/s/iai8cy0sf0xues20hed9rm0qd3j0jgv4  (Scalene Arm Rig Tutorial...the method used in the Squetch Rig for FK/IK arms and legs)

https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27815&p=404735  (a link to a post that has Squetchy Sam attached...there is a more complicated squetch setup, softIK and scalene arms and legs in Sam)

The first tutorial shows a very basic squetch addition to a leg, then the other two tutorials will help you figure out how things are set up in Squetchy Sam...which has a more complicated squetch setup.

Hope that helps, Chris.

Fantastic! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this, but these resources are precisely the sorts of things I was looking for. Thank you for sharing, David!
