Hash Inc. was founded by Martin Hash 1987. His mission was to make affordable software that
would enable artists to create films via 3D character animation using a personal computer.
This was at a time when computer animation software only ran on high-priced workstations which
cost as much as a BMW. When, in April of that year, Hash released Animation:Apprentice on the
Commodore Amiga, it was the first 3D animation software to ship on that platform, and the first
consumer software designed for 3D character animation.
Hash, Inc. continues this vision today with Animation:Master, and is still focused on making it
possible for artists to tell their stories with high quality character animation. By designing
the tools around the artist, and developing technology that directly solves the problems of 3D
character animation, Hash has gained the reputation of making powerful, yet easy-to-use modeling,
animation, and world-class rendering tools.
As a small, privately held, independent software company, Hash Inc. has the freedom to work closely
with its customers and make innovative tools that best suite their needs. The company is run by a
talented group of fun-loving programmers, who vowed never to work in cubicles, and work hard making
elegant tools their users actually enjoy using.
The company operates out of a historic 1912 Church/Arts Center in downtown Vancouver,
Washington. The programming team has been together for almost two decades and has amassed
extensive experience in character animation technology and tool implementation.
