Hi,
I just found this site:
http://mocap.cs.cmu.edu/It's Carnegie Mellon University's motion capture database, with over 1,800 human actions catalogued... for free. I don't recognize any of the file formats, but am hoping someone here will and can tell how to convert them for use in A:M.
Enjoy!

Thanks Paul!
I don't recall seeing that site before.
I don't know what it would take to convert the files... I do know that just the animations alone make for great reference.
They could be used just to get the flow of a specific action or even be used as rotoscopes.
Cool.

Yeah, I'm hot on the trail of a solution...
Here's a link to some nice BVH files:

that .amc file is an Acclaim format, which (pretty sure) A:M supports!

I'd like to know more about motion capture and A:M if anyone cares to expound a bit more.
My brain hasn't been moving anywhere near the subject of motion capture but it's a facinating area and is directly related to reusable motion (of course!). So I'd guess you can color me interested.

Thanks Will!
I had read your Motion Capture Tutorial before... when you first published it but THIS TIME I actually understood it. Cool!
New brain synapse functions kicking into gear here.

Rod,
After searching a bit more I found tons of BVH files (of varying quality), most that could be tweaked and used. I'm putting together a list of links that I'll post when done.
William,
Great tutorial, can't wait to get A:M so I can give it a go.
Thanks,
Paul

One thing I've found with mocap files is that you only need to use what you want. Like I used just the base walk for my 'can you say that' lesson. All the secondary action was added by hand.
If I remember correctly you could also create an action with a mocap file and 'bake' it and remove a lot of the data and have a base animation to tweak.
Good find bigkahuna!
Cheers!
