Hiya.

I just reinstalled 3DPainter and, while I have my original Order email, I didn't save any 'lic' file that I could find. Nothing has changed (same email, same PC, etc.;in other words, it should be the same Hardware key). I tried to email "info@pixosaur", but haven't gotten a reply (email sent 2 days ago). How long should I wait before emailing them again?

He normally gets back to you within 24 hours. This is a problem I have had as I install windows it seems every weekend and am always having to email him to get another key...

It's a pain in the butt having to email him all the time but what can ya do...

I would try emailing him again, I just did to get a new key for my reinstall of windows actually. I'll email again in 24 hours if I don't get a reply.

Never buy stuff from him again if it has this kind of "security" feature? I have a couple of programs that require this kind of activation. In fact, I now have at least two pieces of software I can never use again because the companies that created them are no longer in business. I *hate* this kind of security method! >:\ ...punishes the honest, rewards the dishonest. I'm sure I could go online and find a crack for this software if I needed to, but dang it, I shouldn't have to.

That's my new plan. Every morning when I come home from work; check email, if nothing, email again...do the same thing before I go to work. That'll be two emails a day. Hopefully that will work.

Something is wrong if you are installing Windows again every week. I can't imagine the circumstances that make that necessary.

We're very glad Filip wrote 3Dpainter for A:M and there's no way he could ever sell enough of them to really compensate him for the time it took to do it. He's entitled to whatever security arrangement he wants to make for it.

I reinstall windows alot yup, due to multiple reason (Mainly because my computer gets cluttered and it's quicker to do than "clean up" the computer. It's also not a business machine so I have that privilege with it.). However, not every week that's why I said it seems like.

I said it was a pain, not that Filip couldn't or shouldn't protect it any way he chooses. Reguardless of how much we like 3D Painter and what it does for us or what time and effort Filip has put into it. The fact still remains that it's a pain if you reinstall, change computers etc. because you sometimes go quite a while before you get a reply. I believe the longest I've waited was when I first purchased it if I recall one of my posts on here.

I'm sure that it's just as much of a pain for Filip, as it is for us having to do it like that...

In any case, I got a reply and hopefully you have as well pming. 3D painter is really worth the money if you're using Animation Master in your pipeline as there is nothing else that you can use with Animation Master. Not for 3D painting on MDL files anyway.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it.

Rather than reinstall Windows from scratch I've been using Norton Ghost to image my drive after the first fresh install and after I've got all the usual suspects installed.

Then if anything goes wrong it just takes a few minutes to restore everyting back to a fresh state with all my favorite apps already inplace and I've never had a license problem with this scheme.

I'm sure there are several disk imaging programs that will do what Ghost does as well.

I would recommend using Acronis True Image.
Very easy, very powerful, moderate pricing.

See you

If you give your computer the same name when you re-install Windows and you use the same Windows serial key, then you should be able to reuse your old license key.
