Anyone know of a pre made red velvet material?

Darktree has a material that you could probably tweak to look like that call plush or cottonball.

I recall there is a "Velvet" shader in the specular plugin choices. It has settings that will have to be chosen to work with a particular lighting.

I went with the first suggestion cotton simbiant. But its interesting how similer yet unique each method is.

If anyone has a 5+ year old CD with the 'stage' in the data folder it has the material on it. It was removed about 5 years ago to drop render time of the stage. I'm packing now but i can look when i get back saturday.

Hmm, interesting! Rob's is probably better (this one is pretty simplistic), but here's the old Stage set material.
