There's been alot of talk about hair, so I've been playing around with it lately. Here's some test renders.

ah... non-glowing hair!

The left one would work well for animal fur. Is that one image mapped hair?
Paul Forwood
That left one is very nice, Mark.

The trick is dark specular color and adjusting the primary strength in the muhhair shader.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I used an image in the hair emitter.

Hmm, I was hoping it looked more like human hair than animal fur.

Both characters are using the same hair material, just with different settings. I'm guessing Lady Goodbody's hair needs more work. wink.gif

It's a bit of a too-much-whisky-and-cigarettes look.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Looks good Mark!

Nice work!!

Great stuff, Mark!
John Bigboote
YEAH!!!

Played more with A:M hair. Used the MatCap shader to shade the hair. I think this works pretty well.

She reminds me of a young, punked out Julia Roberts.

I think you're right Holmes.

I went a bit MatCap crazy on this one. This is a model from the extra cd. I think this was one of Matt's models.

I also posted a render of the original (yellow dress).

I would call that a successful experiment, Mark!

Fantastic looking material!

John Bigboote
Great embellishments!
Gerry
How did you do that blue dress? Is that a material?
John Bigboote
Devil with the Blue Dress-blue dress on... (Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels)

I think MT mentioned he used MatCap shaders... do a search for matcap... coolest thing since they started putting the slices in the bread!
mtpeak2
Yes, it's a MatCap shader. The image used is one of the example images included, in the zip file, with the plugin.

Excellent!
Do you know the name of the model that you used from the Extra Disk?

It didn't look familiar to me..

thanks!

I didn't catch some of those later hairs, those are looking great, I bet a lot of people thought A:M hair couldn't do that.
Rodney
I don't know where I was when this topic was posted but it sure wasn't here.

Wow! You've done some great work with hair Mark.
I so need to use some of this.

Count me as one of those people, I sure didn't know that MatCap shaders could be used with hair. blink.gif

Thanks for bumping this up Tom! smile.gif

If my memory serves correctly Matt included it with the Mach V (Speed Racer) project so look for it in the project files on the Extra CD (not sure if it's on the Extra DVD but it should be).
Rodney
Look for the download link on the top right of the menu here:

For those interested... with a little luck and a whole lot of work the next Extra DVD should have a menu similar to this. smile.gif

I got better examples than these, to show what A:M hair can do. I just haven't posted them.

Nice Job especially the red head one.
