Am I doing something wrong?

I am getting a strange render using matcaps, after they look GREAT in the model window. Anyone else get this?

I get it too, the dividing lines are where each light terminates on the surface.

I don't remember it doing this, but I just tested in 15g and it happens there too. We must be doing something wrong.

Remember there's a MatCap Ambiance shader you need to turn on too. But that didn't' fix it for me.

I scanned that thread...there is no mention of a secret setting we are missing. It seems to only work wrong on certain matcap images, though some I used in the past successfully are now rendering bad like this... matcaps are ONLY a coupla months old (OCT?) what version were we using then ?

mine say i downloaded them in november

That would be about 15i

the model view probably doesn't have this problem because it's a front only light.

Getting the same thing ...BUT if I turn off the other lights except for the keylight, it goes away.

[EDIT] Scratch that, I switched to another one and was still getting a hard edge on the shadow from the keylight.

I'm seeing it too.
