Jeff Cantin's Classic Modeling Tutorial is online at A:M Films.
Immediately after Jeff's Tutorial Billy Eggington takes you on a tour of how to take what you've learned to the next level by creating a character (in this case a mangy looking dog of the type you hope you'll never run into on the street!).
http://amfilms.hash.com/video/117/Jeff-Can...IGGRAPH--99--LAIt should be noted that these videos were created long before some of A:M's current features (such as instant stitching in splines versus creating then attaching splines). The basics however remain the same and the lessons learned in these videos will serve you well.

I've just digitised all my AM Siggraph VHS tapes but each tutorial/demo comes to 200+mb in size - way too big for me to upload.....

Yep - I didn't want to dail the quality down much since the VHS video was pretty 'crappy' as it was.

I can change the upload size or i can make a ftp folder for you to upload them with like
FileZilla which has a speed limiter so you can just set the cap below what you upload speed is and let it run it Que.
i have been working getting more stuff into digital format but every time i think i'm going to sit down and get to it something comes up.

posted this in the wrong thread when this is the right one:
in the modelling video, at the very end he makes the spikes
for the neck/back;
he selects the one spike then with one click (?) produces
four more spikes perfectly aligned and individually modified to boot.
what magicks is this, please?
EDIT: found the sweeper+HomeSlice tut, summer officially rescued,
if the trick above was not sweeper, very interested.

nnngghhhhhh -
no. i can't. you don't need to answer. please don't answer. thank you! (first time for everything.)
it's the last 30 seconds of an hour long tut.
if anyone knows how to multiply an object 4 times with one click they can reply, thank you!
and i already got the sweeper, it'll do the job: i don't need 4x, i need 80x.

The duplicator or the extruder wizard, I guessing. Sweeper wasn't available yet.
[EDIT] I just watch the video, I'm not sure what he did.
