Hey Everybody!

Well, I'm back from being on a mission in Washington D.C. and it's nice to be home again. School has kicked up and I've been busy trying to rediscover my life, but holy cow, I miss A:M- and everyone here!

What did I miss while I've been gone? What's new? Is everyone gone working on Pixar now?

It was great working in D.C.--I loved it! I only got jumped once smile.gif The experience was definately life changing and it's helped me gain some serious perspective on things (or as Woot would say: "The more I know, the less I realize that I know.")

Hi everybody, I've missed you all!

WOW!! I remember you, you built Iron Man

Welcome back Lee! what was the gig in DC? Art/3D related or something else?

The only big news here is that Martin is still somewhere in Africa as far as anyone else here knows. No word that I know of.

Lots of newbies popping up who want the interface redesigned after fifteen minutes trying to figure it out.

Stian has been modeling a f-in' medieval cathedral. Everyone here wants to have his child.

Otherwise, the usual!

ha ha, the one post newbs, gotta love those! And I do believe lee was on a mission for the Jehovah's Witness if memory serves correct

Hey Lee!

Very glad to see that you've returned and that your trip was so great! I don't doubt that it has given you some insight into the world!

Somehow I managed to dig myself into a very deep hole with the Wannabe Pirates and it looks like I won't be finding my way out anytime soon. Still, I'm having a lot of fun down here. :-)

Check out the Feature/Special Topics section of the Forum. There's some cool projects being worked on there!

I look forward to seeing your section soon!

Welcome back Lee!
We are about 75% done animating the *next* Oz movie, Scarecrow of Oz.
Here are draft edits of the first half of the movie:

Here is a draft of the first scene in the second half (no sound design or foley yet).

Great to see you here again. You have been missed!

I have no doubt your time in D.C. will impact your art and raise it to the next level.
As others have suggested the world has kept spinning here too and a lot has changed (hopefully for the better)!
A good place to start catching up might be in the Special Topics / WIP area.
As Holmes suggests most definitely check out the 'Scarecrow of Oz' updates!

Thanks for the warm reception everybody!

Man, it's crazy how you can miss people that you've never really met before! Some of your avatar's changed and it's like I have to get use to you with a new haircut or something smile.gif

It was close to Jehova's Witnesses, I was with the other group that knocks on your door--the Mormons!

Thanks for the updates everyone, the Scarecrow of Oz looks really good! Everyone wants to have Stian's baby? What else is new? smile.gif

Haha Gary! I forgot my brutha pass! It's pretty funny, we were walking through SE D.C. and this kid starts yelling at us and we just kept walking, because, let's get real, how many times a day does that happen in Southeast? (The answer is: a lot). Well, he targets the missionary I was with and says: "ya'll hit my friend back there, now we gotta fight!" Well, we kind of ignored him and he disappears. Before we know it, there's about 8-10 guys with him and he's coming up behind us fast. We told them who we were and about half of them wanted to leave us alone, but the other half just wanted to fight and some quick cash. So, my heart is pounding pretty hard at this point, and I was pretty sure I was going to die (pretty naive, looking back they were pretty harmless, but I thought for sure they'd pull a knife). So, in slow motion one of them comes up behind the missionary I was with in slow motion and clocks him right in the jaw! Then, they split into groups of four, and he starts getting pummelled (he never fell down though, I was impressed). As for me, I apparently got the nicer crowd, they just wanted to circle around me and say some unpleasant things to me. The main fighter broke off from the other missionary at one point and started to come at me with his fists up, we made eye contact for a minute and he stopped in his tracks, turned around and started punching my friend again. Call it what you want, but I was working as hard as I could, and I consider this a little miracle. I didn't get touched. So, a car drove by and the kids scattered but first wanted our money, not realizing that missionaries are more broke than they are (don't let the suits fool you). So, instead we gave them all church literature (they were upset because there wasn't enough for all of them to get something) and ran. Well, the cops showed up and said "Don't stay around this neighborhood". "Don't worry," we replied, "we mostly work over there." "What?! That's worse than it is over here."

Anyway, that was a long story, but hopefully you enjoyed it. That area was four months of my life biggrin.gif

I'm interested in getting back into A:M, as soon as I can round up $100. I'll be interested in doing some volunteer work, but it would be really nice to have some extra cash for a particular girl that I'm growing attached to. So, is there any A:M related jobs out there? My work is pretty good, and I'm not looking to make lots of cash, just a little date/gas money for now. Let me know. Thanks everybody and it's good to be back!

Martin's in Africa?

Wow, sounds like that could have gone down much, much worse.

Since you've been gone, A:M has switched to two versions. There's the physical version that costs $299 and a subscription version that costs $79.99. The subscription version works without a disk, but only works for one year after the time you activate it and only on one computer. The $99 upgrade is no more. If you update yearly, it comes out cheaper this way, but there is the time limit on it.

Wow welcome back Lee! Don't know if you remember me, I haven't been doing as much AM lately myself. But I certainly remember your projects.
