Hi Gang
I am considering purchasing the full disc from the store front.
I am curious that if I do will I be able to get the updates when they come out, what version do I get with the purchase?
Will the program work with out having the disc in the computer?
Do I get a Mac and PC version both? Can I use it on both my systems?
What is this dongle stuff I have seen mentioned?

Simply put which is the better way to go, purchase the disc and goodies that come with it or stay with 2 subscriptions? (Mac & PC)

Opinions please!
Thanks
Wally

The theory is you get free updates for the version of the CD you buy untilt he next version of the CD is released (presumably a year). The CD is only required for the application start up. Once started you can remove the CD but if you close AM you will need to put the CD in again if you wish to restart it. The CD comes with both Mac and Windows Versions on it. The Dongles were available for the NetRender version of the software. There are still Netrender versions available by negotiation with Hash as far as I am aware.

Whatever suits your needs. How many machines do you want to run AM on at the same time? Do you want to use the exiting version of AM for more than a year? Do you change PC's a lot? I have 2 subscriptions and the CD as this suits my use of AM. You are the only person who can decide how you intend using AM....

Cheers

Walter,
I think David answered your questions
This is only my opinion... based on what I percieve are your current needs and a little bit of though on it from my own experience.

As you are currently subscribing to two websubscriptions so the next logical step would be to lock your investment down via the CD.
This will allow you to have a copy of A:M until some far flung future date when current computers are obsolute or CDs go away.
In effect, by purchasing the CD you have can run A:M in the version on the CD for as long as you want to.
You'll get downloadable updates to the CD for a year and then you'll be in prime mode to update to the websubscription again (or if A:M has advanced sufficiently to drive a compelling need) invest in an upgraded CD again the next year.

Each year I think I'm going to purchase the CD but then I realize the websubscription is more than adequate for my needs.
I'm about to have to make the decision again for this year and I'll definitely be purchasing a new websubscription.
I haven't decided whether to lock everything in and purchase the CD again. Eventually I know that I will.
Regardless I will still have to have at least one websubscription.

The CD has it's advantages but I most definitely prefer not to have to have the CD in upon startup of A:M.
The websubscription saves me a lot of money too, money that I can purchase other things with.
As I will be updating A:M each year anyway it makes sense for me to standardize on the websubscription and reconsider my needs concerning the permanency of the CD each year. If I was in full production on a project I'd most definitey be purchasing the CD.

As I'm using A:M right now mostly for fun and relaxation and since there is hardly a difference between the two, for me the CD is a bit of an overkill. I've also broken my CD once (in Iraq) and that was too painful an experience. At least I had an earlier version CD to launch A:M with or I would have lost access to A:M. With the websubscription... broken or lost CDs will never be an issue... I just click on the icon and launch A:M.

My 2 cents.
