This is to get Kaptain Jake Rupert's Top 20 List started.
Nominations for the inaugeral Top 20 are being taken and can be posted here.
Be the first to get your favorite topic on the list!

Obviously more than 20 resources will be featured during the collection phase but after that we'll be able to give the Top 20 some extra special attention via the list. smile.gif

The Top 20 Lists first nominee is....

The Ocean Rig by Mark Skodecek

Inspirational, very useful and effective... outstanding information.

I would suggest to make it more an " all time top twenty" instead of a monthly thing,
so that the 20 most usefull threads crystalize over time,
but with the possibility of new ones geting in and old ones dropping out.

One could make kind of a competition out of it for the most usefull threads,
encouraging the forummembers to put more stuff into one singlethread instead
into many different ones for the same topic.

I would say for instance the squetch rigg-, 2008-, TSM ,materialhandling and texturing-thread would
belong into this.

Agreed. Done. smile.gif

Regarding the monthly thing...
The monthly tag provides a historical record allowing forum frequenters to look back in time at matters of interest. A snapshot in time each month also will allow folks to extend their 15 minutes of fame because new users join the forum every day. It will also keep some very important information (as determined by those who care) close at hand as the Top 20 list changes.

I agree, Top 20 can drop in and out all the time I'm just not sure when that dropping will take place. For now... we don't yet have a Top 20 list. March's initial topic is to set a deadline for one to get into place. If there is no interest the light on the Top 20 will likely fade.

I'm not sure what you mean here unless you are nominating those for the Top 20 List. If yes, then I think most of those may be too broad of categories? Its okay for us to spotlight large areas of course and then later we can drill down into them. I've no doubt that Rigging will rate more than a few prime spots on the list. But if that's what you are nominating... done! Those areas of interest are now part of the first working Top 20 list.

I think all will agree that the Top 20 should be fairly specific.
There should be a reason it shows up on the list.

Now, if you mean to suggest moving those topics here under the list.
Get motivated because I'm gonna need some convincin'. wink.gif

Of course links to those areas are certainly easy to put into place.

You've got the ball rolling... now let's see how gravity plays.
Hey... I'm just a facilitator here... this is YOUR list.

Questions from JakeRupert were edited out when the Top 20 List was moved into its own topic.
They are quoted below:

(By the way, where`s the Japan subforum? Has it been deleted?)

The 'Japan' forum was renamed 'Anime and Manga' but it still resides in the Users Group forum in the same place.
Its forum the 'Anime Effects' tutorial is in.

( How do I copy thies threads with their apropriate links? )

If you aren't familar with linking I may have to do a video tutorial... I don't know if I'm up to the task of texting you through the process. In brief however:

Each topic/thread has a link and you copy and paste that link in as the URL.
(Additionally each Post has a link as well... you can find it over on the top right of each post)

If you click on the Orca/Ocean image above you'll see that image has been linked as well.
To apply a link to an image you select it and hit the Link button while editing your post.
This will pop up a dialogue box where you paste (Control P) the link in.
Accept and Submit your edited post and all should be linked.

Troubleshooting-wise we may need to adjust your forum priviledges but as far as I know this capabity is given to (almost) everyone.
