I just ran across this review of A:M on CreativeCow from 2004. The reviewer gave it a perfect 5 cows! Can't believe I never saw it before.

I think Jim still drops in here from time to time.
If all that good press can be believed... He has good things to say about all you folks in the review too!

There is also an abundance of help available from the website as well as a large community of users who graciously devote their time and expertise to helping new users "come into the fold". The Forums that are run at Hash are populated by knowledgeable and helpful users who waste no time in giving answers to those thorny problems. (Like "How to I get that damn ball to roll across the ground?").
As time has changed some delivery methodology it should be noted that the documentation Jim refers to that was on the CD can now be found in the Technical Reference (Tech Ref):

Wow, that's amazing! It's nice to see someone "get it" and put it in writing!
EDIT: This should be pinned somewhere, may be in the Newbies forum.

You know I thought about contacting him to do a followup review, but here's where that went: The improvements to AM's capabilities are on pace with the capabilities of pretty much all the other 3D packages (fluids, cloth, hair) so these don't really represent "stop the presses" capabilities. The real overall improvement in AM is, simply put, stability, and that never entered into his review so it doesn't (imo) merit an update in terms of his original review.
What would merit a second look from Creative Cow would be the actual work that's been created with AM, including, off the top of my head, "Chicory and Coffee", everything from The Soulcage Dept, Stian's modeling and animation, etc. A mention of "Alien Song" would fit right in here. But I'm not sure how to pitch the idea to him.
Maybe another way to utilize the existing review would be for anyone here who posts on other forums, or who have blogs, to post links to it as broadly as possible. It sure seems like this would at least help promote this excellent review.
