For kicks, I was trying to recreate one of the shots Chris did which was the blue sun being sucked into a black hole. I'm not entirely satisfied with this yet, but it's on its way to looking cool!

nope, forces and i never got along very well 
when i tried the vortex force, it ended up spewing particles every which way and lacked control

You need to really lower the magnitude when you switch a fan to vortex. I used vortex successfully for the first time last week on the particle grass in my Lush Lawn spot... it had a magnitude of about 30 and made the grass kinda 'blow in the wind'...
