Hi Jason,

Any ideas when Martin will be back?
Eric2575
When was the last time anyone heard from Martin?
Xtaz
Martin .... Who´s Martin ????

KenH
Watch out for a guy with a long beard and tanned leathery skin. I think that's him.

<Brings a picture to my mind like Mr. Stanley finding him after a looong long search saying:

"Mr. Hash, I presume?"
Gerry
Yeah, Martin, Martin...that rings a bell. Well if it was important someone here would know.
John Bigboote
I was just wondering about him as I booted up this morn. Hope he still holds some interest in A:M when/if he returns.

If Martin didn't have an interest in A:M this forum would have already gone dark long ago.
The recent improvements to A:M Films speaks volumes.

Martin still has the same email address if you need to contact him.
I haven't emailed because I figure he's really enjoying life away from the forum and his original plan was was to vacation for what... 18 months?

I'm sure he appreciates being missed and enjoys seeing everyone's creative projects whenever he drops in to see how things are.
Darkwing
wow, an eighteen month vacation, I've had a 3 day vacation before....

I think he's been storing his vacation days up for about 20 years.
He deserves it!
jakerupert

<guess this means he can be ecpected to be back around springtime....

When I come back from a vacation, I am usually full of great new ideas and plans for the future.

So I am already very curious, what he will come up with then.
Darkwing
.....several months later:

Martin returns

Martin: "Hi guys, great vacation, I'm canceling AM and going to work with the guys at Autodesk! See ya!"

....wouldn't that be ironic and weird smile.gif

Maybe if he saw some pigs fly in Africa
Darkwing
yep.....

Yeah, that'll never happen

*Doesn't notice the flying pics behind me*

Should organise another Hash Bash when he re-surfaces. I might even be able to attend since I'm about to take 7mths off work smile.gif

Cheers
KenH
Oooo....I hope we can get to go to something like Comic Con.
Darkwing
what's a hash bash?
jakerupert
>since I'm about to take 7mths off work

<Are you trying to compete with Martin?
KenH
This is the last Hash Bash.

Darkwing
Interesting. It's kinda cool how you guys get together and like come from all over.
KenH
It was all facilitated by Martin/Hash/his family. I never got a chance to go, but if there were to be another, I'll try my best.
Darkwing
I highly doubt I would, one being I have to go to school soon, and two, I've actually never gone anywhere, I'm not quite sure where to begin, that and the money it would cost
Rodney
Developing a local A:M User Group is perhaps the next best thing to a Hash Bash.
Meeting virtually is nice but there is nothing quite like being in the same room with other A:M Users and sharing tips and advice.
Darkwing
hmm, i wonder how many are in nova scotia?
Eric2575
So, back to Martin. Is he still blogging about his trip? Can we read up about his adventure somewhere? Frankly, I'm a bit worried that we haven't heard anything about him and his group. Africa isn't exactly our back yard. So once more, when was the last time anyone has heard from him? Rodney? Jason?
Rodney
I've been globe hopping too so I haven't seen him in a looong time.
Martin is alive and kickin' though. He visited the forum yesterday.

Some of you may have not seen this write-up from his African Adventures:

Gerry
I watched that TV interview of him on AM Films and now I can't get the image of that mullet out of my head!
Eric2575
Thanks Rodney, that's all I needed to know smile.gif

That fancy iPhone he has in Africa must only be able to receive and not send...(Just kidding! A vacation is a VACATION... I know that.)
Darkwing
that 3 day vacation i mentioned I had before, I spent it on the internet and working on my laptop, sort of like what I do every day. I think I have the inability to relax. At least Martin can!

Now lets talk about Comic Con, Who would want to go? This could maybe be the 2010 Hash Bash. As i see who is in we can work on the details for lodging and entrance.
largento
I would love to, but aren't tickets for the con already sold out?
Jason Simonds
I think we can add people to our list for a fee if this goes.
ptiversen
I want to go to Comic Con too.... count me in.
KenH
Put my name in too.
Darkwing
wow, just a logistics note here, you guys make some half decent money to be able to do this. I, for as grand an imagination I supposedly have, can't actually fathom what it would be like, 1.) meeting people from the forum, 2.)going away, like far away to meet people from this forum, 3.)actually go to comic con. Realistic things (meaning things that happen in real life) I am quite limited in, I can think up worlds that don't exist, yet can't imagine what it would be like going to something like comic con, or doing this hash bash, or any of it!

Like your project, collecting pennies and planning begins one penny and one plan at a time.
One of the reasons people work day jobs is to enjoy their time off and more often than not people will work jobs they don't enjoy at all in order to spend some of their time doing what they love.

Sometimes it takes some very serious saving of pennies and planning but after enough time... perhaps after saving up for retirement... there you are.

Its good to have short, medium and long term plans and steadily work toward them.
In other words; If a reasonable goal is to attend a comic con... you can get there if you start planning.
Darkwing
true, very true, currently all my little pennies have to go to saving up for school in the fall, 1500 dollars and counting, so it's a half decent start
Eric2575
I could make that smile.gif
