Whoohoo!! Two Irish animated films have been nominated for the Oscars. There might just be an industry here yet.

Well deserved praise!
From what I've seen of 'Secret of Kells' it's more than worthy of the recognition.
(Some of the character styling of 'Kells' reminds me a lot of the early work of my favorite comic book artist from Japan; Shirato Sampei)

both films look terrific - I would like to see them both

...I do so especially relate to that Granny O'Grimm character...hmmm...I wonder why that is ....Perhaps it reminds me of myself in my younger, more upbeat days..heh heh...

Granny O'Grimm is on Youtube. Pretty funny:

That's pretty good. Maybe this can get "Kells" a wider theatrical release here in the USA.

Yup - pretty funny - love the style, colors, design, acting, dialog, mix of 2D and 3D, princesses, empty-headed fairies, roccoco ornate palace, juxtapositions/contrasts in mood. My dear, delicious, dark side, scheming, schzoid Bubby (Jewish Gramma) who lovingly made us pancakes (awful), and bribed us with dollar bills, to carry out her evil plots against her son-in-law, could have been the inspiration ... It's an interesting eureka moment for me.

Yup. Grammas are at their best when just being them-multi-dimensional-selves.

Granny O'Grimm was a hoot! laugh.gif

And her response to the Oscar nomination, too! I hope we will be seeing more of her.

The trailer and images of the Secret of Kells have me quite interested. I would love to see it.

I do indeed hope these are signs of a bright future for the Irish animated film industry! And the Irish film industry as a whole.
