Wow! Awesome, pounding fun! My one crit is that the echo on the narration is a little muddy, I couldn't understand a lot of it. But nicely done and dramatic as heck.

i've noticed the gain seems to be high on the narration, so that might be it, i'll play around with the audio levels later when I got the program open

Ok, I'm gonna admit it - When you first started posting about this project, I thought...well, let's see what happens. Then when you started asking for free models, I thought, here we go again, someone who wants to make a video but does not want to do any of the work. At that point, I thought this would blow over with nothing to show for it.
But, I was wrong, you persevered and produced something tangible, something worth watching that shows you put a lot of effort and time into it - not taking any credit away from your partners in crime. I commend you and am starting to think I might find some time to do some modeling for you - no, not that kind of modeling, the spline base kind

If you are interested, let me know.

Well, this is a good start, the positivity is more then I could ask for, now I only hope we can continue and have some scenes complete in the next month, and a whole ep done by late spring/early summer

Crap Chris! That was amazing. Really like the music and the visuals. Have to agree with the narration being a bit hard to hear, but other than that... well, I have to go looking for my socks cause you blew them right off me!!!!

check the two holes in your wall, you know, the smoking ones. And I don't know if this is allowed here, but I've started making T-shirts to sell, and things seem to be rolling along, but yeah, any help we can get from anybody is much appreciated! And I'll see about getting that audio fixed up

The stars and the sun and the astroids as well as the camera-work are all amazing. The only thing that is bothering me are the spacecrafts. They need a texture (or a better one).
Other than that: Great job!

they're sort of one time models, i just threw one of them together for this shot alone and it probably won't be seen again, i figured i could get away with a one second shot

I think your beginning is great, but I do agree that the narrator's voice is distracted by the reverb effect. I choice would be a straight voice sound with the bottom end more defined so the narrator has a deep voice.
Darkwing
Jan 23 2010, 08:44 PM
well, i want to keep some reverb, but i figured out the problem, it's because the audio has a reverb, was exported, then was imported and had more reverb put on it by mistake, so in effect, the echo echoes!

Very nice!
I think the planets and credits were laid out pretty well, and build the excitement of anticipation of seeing the next closeup of the planets. As for the voice the scene were much calmer than the planets flybys, that you may consider adding that "star war like" intro with the subtitle of the script in place scrolling across the screen. I'm hard of hearing, and I look for ways to help people like me out! I watch movies with subtitle on.

Jan 24 2010, 07:11 AM
well, if i ever learn how to do closed captioning, i will

As for the beginning being calmer, it's supposed to be, it's about destiny, and us being who we are, so it's intended to be more sweeping and majestic, then it builds up anticipation for the episode and when you see scene one, you'll understand why the song changes from being cinematic and orchestral, to being simply percussion and action oriented

thanks, this is doing incredibly well, it's already over 90 views (a new record for me for this many views this fast). We have also decided to release each episode in Acts, so that way people won't have to wait for several months before being able to see an episode

And here is a WIP of another excellent design by Darkwing's younger brother, an Aerial Transport. Just blocking in the basic shapes right now, and will get to refining the details later.

well, i utilized some knowledge i picked up from being here and from something I read on sci-fi meshes, and it was if you want help, show work, especially when dealing with artist, and it's true! I figured if I could get away with pulling off a relatively simple scene, but made it look good, people might be more inclined to help, and so far, it's working! And due to it working, we may only be a few weeks away from Act 1 being released as opposed to a few months!
