Here is rough blocking. Still quite a bit to do on it. If anyone has ideas about how to make it less, um, sappy ... I'm all ears.

I think you should sap it up even more - make it funny - exaggerate the sappiness...embrace the sappiness...be one with the sappiness...knock the sap out of the sappiness...etc etc

Good sappy start...keep on sapping on

I don't have any specific ideas at the moment, I wish I did. I was more trying to persuade you to not to be afraid of the sappiness, nor to try to desap it any. I thought you were going in the right direction. I like what you've started . As the gestures & facial expressions get refined, I would look for ways to exaggerate her poutiness, self absorption, flirtiness, and silliness. She's a teenager - she believes she's the center of the universe. She will have calculated moves, designed to manipulate, garner sympathy, attention, entice. Trot's the precocious wise authentic sincere child-adult in this play.
KenH
Nice. In the dialogue, Trot doesn't mention that she is Trot to Gloria. Maybe some gesture by Trot would allow Gloria to make that assumption. I don't know, maybe two hands by the side of her head like she's popped up out of a box. Can explain more if you need it.

I wonder if we could get another cry from Glorias voice actor? Or another woman?

LOL, yeah that crying clip has been reused quite a bit. Martin's daughter, Heather, did the voice for Gloria. Maybe if you send Martin an email, he can persuade Heather to record another crying clip? I will probably drive down there next month to backup my SO edits to a Hash computer, I'll try to remember to see if I can find a mic somewhere and persuade Heather to do some crying ... muahahahah ph34r.gif Can't promise anything though.
KenH
lol Bring a golf club in case she needs some help. tongue.gif J/K!! Is Martin back yet?

Looking good Holmes!

Too many flailing hand gestures though.
There must be something else they can do.
I know the script doesn't call for it but... perhaps Gloria could hold onto something that reminds her of Pon?
It almost looks like there would be time for Trot to pass something to Gloria that she would recognize as coming from Pon.
A small flower... a little locket... not sure.

Press on! Press on!

KenH
Yeah, there's a little too much of that toward the end with Trot when she talks about hunting around. But, I don't know if it's worth changing.....just noting for the future.

I would say that Glorias head looks like a jack in the box when it moves. Chest movement would probably help that.

Yeah, there is an issue with Gloria's head. You can't translate the head very much or the face kind of melts off of her. It looks really strange. It is that way because I installed LiteFace in her and her body was already rigged with the Squetch rig, so I just did the best I could.

Can you tell me some specific times when Gloria's head looks especially jack-in-the-box-like?
KenH
Yep....mainly around frame 400-430 and a little in her last shot at the end.

OK, I think I'm going to call this one done.
Thank you for all the feedback. It was most helpful.

Here body is still statuesque at around 420 while her head moves. It's very obvious. If you're happy though, move on. Good work otherwise. Particularly the lipsync.
HomeSlice
Oh .... OK ... I'll fix it.
