Thats a pretty obscure lil feature, amazing the tricks packed into this software...we'll never stop discovering them all.

SO- Quicktime Pro on a Mac does nifty screen recordings...can the PC version of QTP???

I actually did not know that or anything much about snap to grid, thats going to save me a lot of time ! laugh.gif

QT is nice for the screen captures but you cant really adjust any settings....

Photoman

PS what compression settings did you use for the video?

Hi Jason
I am running Mac Tiger 10.4.11, have QT pro and do not have that feature; do you know if there is a plugin for my version of QT that will allow me to record?

Use CamStudio for all your needs (Windows-vis).
It is free, it is very customizeable and it works very well.

You can use the demo of ISHOWU for osx 10.4. You dont have to purchase but your recordings will have a watermark.

If you have snow leapard and dont like quicktimes free built in screen recording you can use Ishowu HD.

A quick fix update
.
As of v16b, Shift and select "snap to grid" will only snap the pivot point to the grid. The older set up snapped both the pivot and the CP.

To only snap the CP's just use the "snap to grid" with the CP's selected. smile.gif

Okay... that should be very useful to me.
Of course, don't forget that in order for A:M to save the Pivot settings they need to be part of a Named Group.

Thanks for the heads up on this... and for the original Tutorial Jason!

Jason, that's a great tutorial, thanks! I would like to mention though that it's not QT Pro that you're using but rather QT player v10, and to answer Walter Baker' query, there's no additional software needed. QuickTime is kind of in between versions and like most Mac users, I've got QTPro v7 and QT Player v10 side by side in the dock, and I use them both for various things.

But the video screen capture (with audio) is part of the v10 player and works great, except that you can only capture the whole screen and not a window or region. No doubt they will fix this "soon"!
