SO--- I'm 3DPainting...finally!
I am using the 'projection Paint' option with A:M Paint launched from within A:M. I would like to be able to modify the painting in Photoshop... so the 'automatic decal mapping' feature that AMP has won't work for me because it makes a scrambled-patch image. Just wondering if there is a better/more intuitive method for applying the initial 'empty canvas' decal.
Have you checked out my Cylindrical wrap method? It minimizes the manual flattening and makes for just one seam to maneuver around at the back of your object. It's in my WIP thread on the Dec 11 second club entry (which I probably wont' enter)
http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=317888One note: when you Cylindrical apply a decal A:M sets the repeat value to 3 even though the image appears to only wrap once around the object. When you add other maps (like bump) to the decal container you need to set them to 3 repeat also.
