Hello All,

I just have a problem that I ran into when renewing my A:M subscription. I purchased a new subscription of A:M and I already had A:M on my machine but when I would open it the program stated that the license had expired. When making the purchase I decided to download A:M again and install it in case there had been any updates to the program since I last installed it. I opened the newly downloaded program and realized it was the same version because it was accessing my license information from before stating that I had an expired program. I fixed this by deleting the master0.lic file so when I launched the program it would ask for my new key. This all worked perfectly. The only problem now is that any text in the program like names of models and library lists are displayed as distorted black image blocks. Kind of hard to describe but basically where text should be under the image of a material or model all that shows is black and white image blocks. Kind of like those new barcodes found on packaging. Also shortly after launching the program it crashes before doing anything. Anyways, all I want to know how to do is to completely uninstall both A:M apps from my computer and download and install A:M and do a fresh install.

Is there anything I should backup or save before doing it?

Find the file master0.lic in your A:M install folder Renames that file to something like master0.bak and relaunch the software and A:m will ask for your new code.

Default Paths:
By default in windows:
C:\Program Files\Hash Inc\V15.0

By default Mac:
\\applications\Animation Master 15.0\
HomeSlice
Since you deleted your Master0.lic file, you may not be able to rename it unless you saved a backup.
If you uninstall,
If you added any plugins to the default AM plugins folders (hxt, trb, shd etc), you should back up those before you uninstall.
When you re-install, you might get a message that the license code you entered is already in use. If that happens, contact support@hash.com.

Thanks! No plugins so I will just delete all A:M folders on my mac.

So I deleted every A:M folder and installed it again. The text issue is still present... I attached a photo so you can see what I am talking about. I am running A:M on a Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). Is there something I am doing wrong or do people running SL just need to live with this?

I've not seen this specific issue on my Macs but I know AM has all sorts of issues in OSX (seemingly UI related). Sometimes I get AM to load and just see the "+" signs in the project workspace and nothing else. To be honest you might be better off trialling the Windows version of AM on vmware in OSX to see if the performance is better/more reliable. I'm considering doing this on my Mac...

Jason, will I need a new activation code to run AM on the same machine as it is already activated on but inside Windows using Parallels?

Cheers

Not really a perfect solution for me at the moment. It is just weird that my last subscription download worked fine and since I reinstalled this is happening.

I have not scene this before. What versoin of the software are you running?

I will look into this now also. Test it on my mac.

Hey Jason,

I am running A:M version 15.0g on a Mac with OS X 10.6.2.

It looks a little different everytime I launch, haha.

Sometime the text shows up like this also:

Small Delay, Since most of our users are still in 10.5 i'm getting a new HD to instal 10.5, 10.6, windows 7, Vista and Xp on my mac book pro. The HD is ordered and should be here soon.

Mark3D
Thanks Jason,

I'm not really worried about it now because it isn't really affecting performance. Just a little weird, that's all. haha.
I look forward to hearing if this is a universal occurrence though.

Mark.

I'd like to know whats casing this too. I've just upgraded my Mac to 10.6.2 as well and I'm getting exactly the same thing happening in my Library window with A.M.13t. I thought it was just because I was running to old a version of A.M. for 10.6.2, but maybe its something else causing it?
Mark3D
Hey Other Mark, haha,

I also only experienced this text overlay issue when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. It is definitely weird... Luckily if you click an item the text will become highlighted and legible but it is verrrrry annoying to constantly click around to find what you're looking for. I guess something isn't quite compatible with SL.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but I've been afflicted by this garbled text issue after an upgrade to Snow Leopard, as well. In digging around, I found a (very flawed) solution to the messy text display in the Library. Select the Animation Master application in the Finder and Get Info on the application. Check the little box that says "Run Using Rosetta".

...however, note the *very flawed* comment above...

Launching A:M under Rosetta will return the Library text to its usual crispness, but you end up paying for it with a notable performance hit to the rest of the A:M interface, making the program nearly unusable. I quit, switched off Rosetta and relaunched for comparison. The current issue is that now A:M crashes on startup every time.

Both my operating system and A:M are at the latest versions.
Back to the drawing board.

I know it's annoying to have the garbled text, but if it's only in the library I'm surprised it's been such an issue since regular Open File/Save File maneuvers do everything one needs to use things in A:M.

I recall that the cause has been found and a fix may be possible in an upcoming version of A:M.

The crashing on startup... I know other mac users are running A:M so maybe they'll chime in with an insight.
