Full Version: Very wierd and horrible modeling problem

I've never seen anything like it. When I go into line/shaded (0) or shaded (9) mode, I also go into vector mode in the modeling window (all other windows for that matter). Everything peaks. Back to wire frame (8) and it curves again. I restarted my system - nothing. I repaired the os even though it didn't need it. I loaded the new 15.0g and it still happens. I even wacked my computer. I'm about to pull my hair out. Has ANYONE had experience with this? I hope to God I just hit a wrong key and didn't know it was a shortcut. Help me. Thanks,
Doug

hit page up key until you hear boing boing boing

page down will reduce resolution, page up will increase res (display of model goes from 1, 4, 16, adaptive polys/patch)

boing, boing, boing, eh?
MJL
Scientific term.

I heard the boing. Thank you. A list of commonly-terrifying-things-that-happen-for-no-apparent-reason and their easy if you know them already but impossible to find otherwise fixes might be a useful list for someone to make. Or for other Byzantine processes; for example, having to have an edit pose or relationship window open with the pose slider workspace showing in order to change the name of a relationship folder (in the pose slider name box). I wonder how many hours of swearing and head scratching have been spent over that one alone.

Anyway, thanks very much.

Pssst...ummm...You might have the "let's muck with their mind" edition of A:M - very few of those got out before the wayward programmer was hauled off to the hokey-pokey for some R&R. That's where he got the boing boing tune. And he's been on the path of righteousness ever since.

So in case you didn't get that version, this should work: open the user properties folder in the model properties, right click on the pose name you want to change, choose rename, type in brand spanking new moniker.

Sadly, they are still trying to come up with a proper tune for Rename...that is, unless you type in some obscenity. In which case, a duck will probably drop from the ceiling.

With a little work I think this could be a one-man stage play.

And it might not be a bad play at that. Perhaps it could be called "Shortcut" or something snappy like that. In it the hero, bitter because all he ever wanted was to win an Academy Award for an animation, and hasn't even managed to win a local film festival special mention, slogs through fantastic ammounts of information, learning program after program when he could be out there learning to do something simpler, like how to fly a jet, or do something else that might one day make him some money. Finally however, all his hard work pays off and, like in Rocky, although he doesn't win, his animation is chosen to be an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival. In an ironic twist of fate however, on his way to the airport, as he is crossing the street to get in a cab, he is run over by Steve Wozniak who is late for Stephen Jobs's funeral.

Maybe it could be a musical. Who knows.

Yes, I'd forgotten that one. Thanks for reminding me. But why not do it the hard way? It's still not obvious to the newcomer I think - and it still bugs me that I can't just change the folder name at the folder.

Thanks everyone.

One thing to remember is that A:M is not just a program, it is an quantum-based life form enjoying a symbiotic relationship with all that silicon packed into your computer - and, well, it has it's own opinions about how life should be. The sooner you surrender to this fact, the easier your life will become wink.gif

Yoda64 has gone through a careful "integration" process in order to communicate directly with the A:M Overmind. Martin merged with his creation in the alternate dimension long ago ... Doesn't he seem vaguely silicon based?
