In my new video I need it to lightly snow.
Any ideas on the best way to do this?
Sprites maybe?
John Bigboote
Here is a clip from a spot where I used a 'sprite' for 3D snow with forces blowing it about. I originally tried a cheezy snow generator in After Effects but because of the camera move it looked quite 2-dimensional. I was very pleased with the 3D results I got in A:M

I used particle streaks for this snow

the key to making the snow flutter is to put a force, with turbulence added, at the side to add some variety to the streak's motion as they fall.

Your lucky I had a free morning. I will upload the project file and assets (In the Contributors Cue forum) that I just used to make THIS movie: I hope you find it useful.

Gerry
Hey I'm looking for that snow prj in Contributors Cue and I get redirected back here! Is it there somewhere?
MJL
HI Gerry,

You can get the snow HERE
Gerry
When I load it it asks for a snow.tga item that's not in the zip file.
TheSpleen
I used the flake.tga from johnL3d in the beginning of post
Gerry
You mean where he suggests doing a forum search? I don't understand.
TheSpleen
I just tried uploading it here but it wont let me
Gerry
Yeah, you can't upload tga's to the forum. If you have the snow.tga could you just email it to me? gerrymooney(at)earthlink(dot)net. Thanks! I would like to do snow in AM this year instead of faking it with AfterEffects.
jakerupert
upload it as zip file
