You may need a newer version of Quicktime or Itunes which includes quicktime to play this file.
Its an H.264 mpeg 4 quicktime file. Hope this helps people. Try a different browser if the file will not play.

Thank you Jason that was an outstanding! and fun tut
so i have a question
do you yourself have any plans on doing mocap for yourself
I checked out your site,( also excellent! ) and it would seem that would be something you'd be into
bty liked that sony caparison vid
note to some the quicktime vid would not play in Safari but did play in Firefox
at least on my end anyway

I purchased the entire truebones monsterpak. In total it is almost 3000 bvh motions. So hopefully using motions combined with traditional animation will be antiquate for the current projects I am working on. I dont have the money or need to purchase a a mocap system. I here for 2 to 5grand you can get a system that will do the trick.
Thanks for the compliment and please remember to ask for the feature request in www.hash.com/reports/ if you agree with my suggestions.

Hi Jason. Here's the problem you had with the left arm not being in the correct position, you had transform keys set in the setup action.

Thank you very much. So if I just had deleted those x,y,z,w jeys, and then did the aim like two constraint the left arm would have looked like the right. Thank you so much.

I'm pretty sure you could have just deleted those keys without having to redo the constraint.

I have the most recent version of QT but your large movie still won't open. I get error #2048. The smaller ones are choppy though the audio is okay.

Thank you for that great tutorial.
Very helpfull!!!
Why didn`t you use the mirror constraints plugin for the left side?

You are so right. I should have. I need to work smarter not harder. lol. This type of feedback is why I love forums. It allows us to advance at light speed.

The large file is better quality with smoother playback. But its a true h.264/mp4 file. meaning you need the latest version of quick time and you may need to download the flash plugins to your browser. The other files will work with older versions of quicktime but the quality is not as good and the file size is much bigger.

Attached is the project with the right side constrained. I wish to use mirror constraints to get the left side constrained via the plugin.
Can anyone help. Its not working for me?

Can someone test mirror constraints with the model above?
mtpeak2

I had no luck either. It's probably because it's constrained to the BVH rig, the plugin doesn't recognize it.

After further investigation, using just A:M bones, it doesn't look as though the plugin work in an action. If I create an on/off pose with the constraints added to the bones, it works by invoking the plugin through the model, under the objects folder, but not in the pose window (plugin doesn't show). So to me, it looks as though the plugin should not be available in an action.

Could you do the flip in the model window and text edit the constraints into an action?

I don't understand. Well I kind of do but not enough to do it.

Neither do I. I was hoping someone else would.

Yes, in an on/off pose. After setting up the right side constraints, right click the relationship action in the PWS (while still in the relationship window) and choose plugins>wizards>mirror constraints. This doesn't work on a regular action. It seems it only works on permanent constraints setup in the model.

I did notice that I needed to fix the target in the constraint. Also, the "aim like two" constraint does not mirror. Steffen mentions this on his plugin site.
I'm also using v16, I don't have v17.
mtpeak2
Dec 23 2011, 11:41 PM
One more thing, the plugin mirrors ALL constraints in the model. So, if relationships are setup in left and right pose, the plugin will create duplicate constraints. TSM2 rig is setup in left and right poses. You're better off just creating the constraints manually, there's only a handful of them. Or you will need to do alot of cleanup.
jason1025
Dec 24 2011, 12:30 AM
So in the end mirror constraints for this type of situation is a moot point.
mtpeak2
Dec 24 2011, 05:37 AM
Yup!
It would be great if the plugin would only mirror the constraints on selected relationships and have an option to mirror the pose itself. For example, if the pose name had "Right" in its name, it would create the new constraints in a new pose for the "Left" side.
I wish I was a programmer, I have alot of ideas I could experiment with.
