I made this for Gene for his Pigeon video. I've been experimenting with Art Nouveau imagery for my website overhaul.
Hope someone can get some use out of it.

Thanks!! Nice model! I may replace the bench back geometry with a cookie cut decal to reduce the patch count... not sure how well it will work. Perhaps well enough for wide shot and use the original for close ups.

Thanks, Rusty. Cookie cutter decal is not something I've learned about yet. If it works, maybe you could give me a quick
1 - 2.

Thanks for another nice model.

So intricate. Must have taken hours to do.

Wow, close to 10,000 patches. !!!

Sorry about the patch count, I was concentrating on the flow of the Nouveau style back and not paying attention to how many patches I was putting in. It was a newbie mistake, and I figure to be a newbie for another year or two. I'm sure there are better ways to do that back, I just don't know them yet. If someone knows how to fix it , please do, and repost it.

Thanks Myron

I can use this in my Park scene.

The easy thing to do is to render the back of the bench then turn the image into a black and white image -- white being the iron work. Then create a flat patch the size and color of the bench back then apply the image as a cookie cutter decal. The black areas of the cookie cutter decal will make the patch transparent. Only the white areas will show. Then make a copy of the bench -- call it 'LowResBench' -- and replace the back patches with the flat patch you've created. The only problem is that the back iron work will be flat -- one dimensional -- but this would be okay for wide angle shots. Maybe I can get to this later this week... I'm very busy finishing my sci-fi book. Maybe you can try it as it is very easy to do!

Neat model Myron - Thanks!

I'm not suggesting that you change the back or the model - but since you indicated you didn't know how to do a cookie cut decal - which is very simple - I went ahead and did an example - took me 5 minutes. You may want to use this technique in something else someday:

1) created a choreography with just the back of your model showing, changed the camera to orthogonal, made the back color white (just so you could see it - not necessary), made the model flat shaded in the chor - rendered to a tga, with alpha buffer ON

2) created a 4 patch (could have been 1) model. Applied the testcookie0.tga to the plane, changed type to cookie cut, in same decal container - rt click, add image - choose any ol image of choice - make it type color. You must render it in order to see the combined effect .

The soft spot in my heart says Thanks again - ok...ok...the soft spot in my head said it. (zip file contains the cookiecut tga, and the test model)

Thanks, once again, Nancy.
I have saved your last post in my "Nancy's tutes" folder and shall play with it soon.
(I haven't forgotten that I owe you an email)
