Ok folks
I now have severe brain sweats.
I have been testing this SIMCLOTH thing for weeks now and am making little to no progress.
Just when I get a simulation to look half way decent my next attempt goes in all manner of strange directions.
So my question is does anyone have some simple settings that work for the SimCloth material and for the Choro. settings?

Settings seem to be a discovery process for each situation.

-make sure your cloth isn't getting trapped between two deflectors.

-greater stiffness may help calm cloth down

- some settings have to be set to VERY large numbers to see changes in effect.

Hopefully some cloth veterans will pop in here.

Consider the layout of your cloth's splines and how they will move. Try to align them with the splines on the underlying geometry.
Be absolutely certain that all of the cloth's CPs are clearly outside of the supporting model and allow a settling period if neccessary before animating.
Twiddle the knobs some more.
Post examples so that we can see what is happening.

Well, I did have a bunch of stuff here, then I thought I should test this one more time before I send it, and it worked. So included is the project, the movie test, and the model to be applied to. Now some more questions.
1st during the simulation and the movie the end of the sleeve tucks in toward the arm, why?

2nd on the model I will need her scarf, both sleeves to move like the included test, and her dress (front and back), all to move like cloth.
From what I have been reading, can this be done all on the same model. Can deflectors and cloth be applied to the head, the legs, and the arms all on the same character?
This SimCloth thing can be so great and I would love to be able to get much more knowledgeable about it. I think it could make the difference of something cute to something really cool.

to try...

make a pose to shrink the arm to a small diameter

have pose on at start, let cloth settle, then expand arm, then animate

or your cloth may be too stiff. it looks stiff.

Is this closer to what you want?

I remodeled the sleeve with more splines and modeled it round instead of in an already-draped shape.

I moved the bone animation out 1 second to give the cloth time to settle into place.

I bumped up the stretch stiffness to 1000 and lowered the shear stiffness to 1. Those may not be ideal.

I noticed you had the cloth assigned to two bones. I'm not sure if that matters or not. I reassigned it all to the first bone.

Air drag increased to 5 ( i think this is rather important for "cloth" look)
particle mass decreased to .5
Friction up to 50

solver precision very, very small... .0001 seems to get less jittery cloth

You nailed it Rob, Thanks
I will start working on the model and when I get something I will send it here for you to scrutinize.
Thanks again

I just noticed I rendered those movies with "Step" = 2, so those were playing 2x as fast as they should.
Walter Baker
They still look fine and it gives me enough to work with
So what is 'step=2' I didn't know there were different steps?

I played with those settings and changes you made during my lunch hour and it looks so much better and what I need so thanks again Robert
By the way what is "garcon triste"?

In render settings. It renders only every 2nd frame.
Walter Baker
Well here is a simple two step test of the cloth on the scarf, sleeves and dress.
My other attempts I did a walk action and applied it in the chor. and after 10 frames to let the cloth settle ( simulation ) then the walk action to start all the cloth sections would disappear.
So I just made a simple walk action in the chor. which worked. The animation is not good but for this test I think it worked.

A special thanks to Robcat for his help.
robcat2075
That's pretty good!
Walter Baker
Thanks Rob for all the help to get her this far, now another question.
I watched your tuts. on how to do a walk, did a simple one as an action then used it in my original chor. gave 10 frames for the clothes to settle then the groups that are cloth disappear, any idea why?
I have been studying your tuts on keyframing still a bit lost on keyframing, but working on it. At this point I am going to start working more on animation.

No idea. When I'm really stuck on something, I start eliminating elements until I find the one that seems to be making the problem.

Then you gotta figure out why....

"garcon triste" = sad boy.
