hi everyone...
i was assigned to build some shops and merchand stalls for jinxland, hereīs the first one of it: a simple wooden souvenir stall. nancy, i saw in another post that youīve made some very nice king krewl statues, could you send them to me so i can put miniatures of them into the souvenir-stall? would be a great addition, at the moment the stall is a bit to empty i think. what about post-cards? i could add a postcard-stand in the front of the souvenir stall with "greetings from jinxland"-motives... all iīd need are some jinxland-renders..
iīd like to continue with a grocerystore, more a real building with shelves of fruit and fish and stuff in the front. are there some guidelines regarding jinxland? doīs and dontīs?
cheers..

Sweet!
I think the Krewl statues are in
Data > Actors > King Krewl
and
Data > Actors > King Krewl > Extras
on svn.

Cool! Stick a few poses in there and you'll have a whole gaggle of different stalls!

Let me know if you get the statues worked out. They do strange things for me.

Hey Sebastian,
Would you please upload your merchant stall to the Props folder on SVN? It's OK if you are not finished. I just need to place a few of them in the set.
Thanks!

iīll upload it tomorrow morning... iīve made a seperate postcard stand which is supposed to stand in front of the souvenir stall... i will upload it as a seperate model so you can exactly position i where you want it to be...
i ran into a problem... i spent the last few hours trying to bake a model from the king krewl statue action, but a:m crashes every time... i tried it on 3 different computers, mac and pc, no chance...

i tried to bake this action because i wanted to place little king krewl figurines into the stall which i could reduce to a much lower density then, so the figurines wouldnīt have to be placed in the chor seperately and be much too dense for this purpose...
can someone try to bake this model for me???

itīs uploaded to svn...
thereīs a tga file called "Jinxland_postcard01.tga", itīs the postcards decal, we could add another few files and replace the decals so we have some different postcard-motives... i donīt know how close the actors will walk by the stand, but if they walk by very close it would be a great opportunity to put in some neat gags in form of funny postcards, donīt you think?

Yeah, me and Nancy have run into that too. The current rig for Krewl is way too complex to bake. In the Props folder is a model named King Krewl Statue. You can use that one as a base for you to make your statuettes.

If this is a regular action, try exporting the model from the action as a new model.

ah, ok... iīll take that model then...
mark: thatīs what iīve tried several times. my mac version of am was first processing for like 20 minutes and as the progress-bar went up to 100% it crashed.
with the pc version same thing, except for the long waiting times to crash...

can a rig be to complex for that? maybe itīs stuff like the face rig with the camera, iīll have to test that out.. just of curiosity....

I can't help you with the baking, as I have never tried using it, but I just wanted to say how good that souvenir stall looks. Nice work!

Hi Sebastian...I was just looking at the stall on SVN. There seems to be many un-needed patches and we'll need all the resources we can get on this set. As far as I can see, all the horizontal splines on the planks aren't required.

youīre not completely right ken... just SOME of the horizontal splines on the planks are not required. if you look a bit closer the planks arenīt completely straight, in fact some of them arenīt at all....therefore i needed some horizontal splines... i could get that effect with two or three splines less per plank or so i guess, but iīll have to retexture all of the planks then, thatīs a lot of work...

iīll see what i can do..

Aha. Well leave them be then. We can do it if we need to.

sorry for the delay, had too much to do at work again... hereīs a little update with the postcard-stand and the krewl-statuettes... i reduced the density of the statue-model as far as i could without havin to remodel it completely.... tried to upload the model to svn, but i got an error, donīt really know why.... iīll have to take care of it in two weeks, got to get up early tomorrow, iīm flying to croatia.. itīs gonna be my first vacation since 5 years... yay!!

greets...
