Many thanks for this addition.
The autosaving of the PNG image will make Baking Surfaces so much easier to use! smile.gif

Great addition!

In the version I'm using (15d), when I bake the surface the stamps become just flat patches that are detached on the same texture panel. Does the new one preserve the stamps as originally layed out?

In 15d, baking is pretty much useless because of the degredation of the image map and disassociated stamps.

Anything is "useless" if it's used for the wrong thing.

Baking is primarily intended for converting the appearance of materials into bitmaps for faster rendering. It's more of a last step than a first step.

If you really want to combine decal instances into one stamped file, using the bitmap painting tool in 3DPainter in conjunction with the unwrapping process that was outlined elsewhere, looks to be a more likely way to go.

I believe surface baking became a real feature in V15.0E, and these 'resolution' options are new to V15.0F.

Like I mentioned before I can't use 15.e. Decals would display wrong, 5 pt patches where invisible, overall stability of the program was horrible (reminiscent of 3ds max 1.0) and performance was horrible. I'm using a quadcore xeon with nvidia quadro 3700 under xp pro sp3 32bit.

Oddly 15d is really stable here and objects display properly. I had posted the bugs I found when the patch first came out.

Why do you still worry about 15 e?

Can it really be, that you have missed, that we are on 15 f by now?

15f is working well on my behalf.

(Oh o.k. now I get it.
You are probably on CD-version right?

As far as I know, they are working on this with great effort )
