Full Version: trouble rendering an action for Pessim

Hi all,

I've attached a chor with an action I've modifed for my shot for Pessim. For some reason I cannot render the action without Quicktime 7 crashing. I've uninstalled and re-installed the latest Quicktime 2 times now thinking maybe I had a corrupted file. I then did a test render using Pessim creating an action from scratch and it renders fine.

The original action used the dopesheet for the lipsync. I prefer the null controls so I redid the lipsync using the face interface. To make sure the animation is correct, I always do a test render. For some reason it won't render.

Thinking that the action file some how got corrupted, I created a new chor-action, copied and pasted the keys I created with the face interface in the original action and saved it out as a new action. It still won't render.

Would someone please try to render the action to see if it is something I'm missing (maybe a codec) or validate that the file is corrupt?

Here's the attached chor with the action embedded.

EDIT:

The cho I attached didn't seem to work so here's a project.

Renderd in the action window fine ,not everything is embeded like hair and other stuff ,maybe that makes a differance

Same for me - rendered fine from action. And as well when I added Pessim to the chor with the action

However there are way too many things (and info) missing from the project to try to duplicate your problem - like all materials (hair), the sound file especially, your settings that you are using for rendering. (yes I know - I could get them from svn - but that wouldn't duplicate your problem either)

Perhaps - you might try some stuff to eliminate things as well.

Can you render from the action window (not chor)? with sound file? without sound file? with hair? without hair? What are your render settings?

I tried to embedded the chor and action (which should have included the sound file I'd think) without the other objects so I could eliminate other possible factors as to why I couldn't get the render to play.

I noticed the sound wasn't there with your render. I take it the sound didn't get embedded with the action. Hmm....

Thank you for the help. It's much appreciated.

I thought if I embedded the choreography that the model with the materials and such would get embedded too. Apparently not.

What I did Nancy is, I created a new project, imported Pessim and the action I created. I rendered "the action" window using a few different formats: MPEG-4 video, H.264 and animation with the render quality set to shaded. I also tried it with OpenGL and Direct3D v8. Both OpenGL and Direct3D v8 appear to render fine (OpenGL rendered much faster for me) but when I try to view the mov, QT crashes.

I just thought about how I can see if it has to do with my QuickTime or not. I'll attach my rendered file.

Please tell me if you can view this mov.

Yea it plays fine and with sound ,must be your player somehow
Jeetman
Thanks Steve.

I just tried to play it again first through A:M and just by clicking on the file and they both crashed. Then I tried something that I thought would do the same thing but I was able to play it by downloading the file from the post. Weird.

Any idea as to how I could fix my player? I've already uninstalled Quicktime and downloaded the latest version. I'm thinking I need a codec?

George I had a simalar problem a year or so ago and it was really hard to fix. The problem I had is I updated Quicktime then AM would not render and Quick time would also not play SOME quicktime files? The problem is once you upgrades it stores that upgrade on your system and un-installing and re-installing does not work. I tried to go back to old version it makes you think that you un-installed it but you get errors saying that you already have a more current version of quicktime loaded when I tried to install the older version and it stops the install of older version. I had to search the net for instruction on how to manually un-install quick time then load older version. Or the current version you have maybe it's corupted and you need maually un-install it then reload. Sorry this was over a year ago and I can not remember any other details. It was a major pain!!

The .mov you posted play fine on my player and has sound also

Maybe you need to un intall from the registry ,but be carefull

a quick google search revealed this: (I've had problems before as well, so I was interested in the answer, in the event I do something stupid like upgrade my QT player)

http://www.oldapps.com/forum/software-supp...-quicktime.html

And in particular this page for the old versions of Quicktime

http://www.oldapps.com/quicktime_player.php

I cannot vouch for the above info.

I hate quicktime. It seems to mess things up, somewhere, somehow with other, usually older apps. That's why I still run 7.1.6

Thank you Mark and Steve.

Nancy, thank you for the links. I'll see if it can solve my problem.

Thanks again guys!
