I'm looking for feedback on what kind of character to use. It should be a typical A:M 'medium splineage' type character... (As opposed to a minimal, like Thom - or a 'heavy' mesh-face)
We could use a model from one of 3 places:
-One of my own models, of which I will be uploading selections soon.
-Anybody else's model...want to contribute your character? Place an image here and be prepared to 'fork-over' the .mdl (rigged or unrigged)
-A pre-existing model, like Sir Nigel from the Hash CD- Or maybe a TWO character
What do you think?

Do you have anything rigged with the 2008 rig, Holmes lite rig or the squetch rig?

MOTORMOUTH
This is a character that I created a few months ago when I first got A:M Track, with the idea to give him facial mo-tracking to add personality... He is still a WIP as I plan to add some sort of 'arms'...they may be sparkplug wires...or something.

I rigged a face model that I posted awhile back (my avatar). It's all setup to use A:M Track action files. It also has manual controls to animate independently.

MT--- That's a pretty good suggestion, as we can see your face is highly articulated. However, ONE THING i want to show in my demonstration is the facial mocap in conjuction with SOME KIND of body animation...if you look at all the samples so far for A:M Track- that's the ONE THING that nobody has shown yet... I also like seeing the 2ndary action of dynamic hair being instigated by a real person's head movements, call me weird...
SO--- if you would allow me (or somebody else) to 'slap' a premade BODY/scalp on your guy... run it thru TSM2 or the A:M2009RIG... and away we would go!

Very cool character Matt!

You should go for it and use this character.
It'd give you a ready made excuse to concentrate on facial animation and yet give you good flexibility in moving the character around.
The jagged teeth though, that might seem a good idea right now...

HE IS VERY WELL RIGGED and WEIGHTED and his skin maps, wowzee!!.
That is a good consideration! I wanted to post one or two more, and then maybe we'll put it up to a vote...

I did a little more work on MOTORMOUTH (added hands that are spark-plug wires...) I am 'leaning' towards using this model at this point.
In step#2 we will begin looking at A:M Track's 'POSE IMPORT' utility, and begin supplying Mr. MOTORMOUTH with all the required poses.

I will ALSO need to start thinking of a script... what will MM say? Here is an idea for starters:
Hey Drivers, MOTORMOUTH here-
Y'know- those 10 minute oil-change places are great in a pinch,
but once in a while you gotta crawl down under your motor
and drain the oil YERSELF! Get a little DIRTY!
Why? 10 minutes is NEVER long enough to drain the WORST contaminants
out of a crankcase! You gotta let that stuff DRIP for a while!
This is sort of a 'blood-transfusion' for us engines and we
want ALL the bad stuff out before the new stuff comes in-
GOT IT? Good.
People who don't listen to their engines really get me STEAMED!
And don't forget to dispose of the old oil properly...RECYCLE!
You can tell 'em MOTORMOUTH sent you...cause I DID!
Now...about that LEAD FOOT of yours...

This was an early test of the face rig using an A:M Track action file. The model is fully rigged with the 2008 rig and the face rig I was working on. Both rigs need updating to the latest versions, not a big deal. I could try and add some hair and eyebrows, but I won't have too much time til the weekend.

Yeah--- the possibilities! I am going to rig MM to illustrate animating an inanimate object...I plan to do it in such a way that others can follow and apply my experience to their own models...
I sorta 'stalled' on this thread... I need to get a night and shoot my facial expressions...looking for a better camera than my digital... dusting off the old VHS-C camcorder... please be patient.
