The story, in brief:
A gawky, awkward teenager signs up for free figure-drawing classes at the local Art Society. Although he is not really interested in art, he imagines this to be the perfect opportunity to have beautiful girls modeling for him, (sans clothing.) His class is taught by a zealous old artist (and his lovely assistant) whose enthusiasm for the human form proves more than our hero bargained for.
In a nutshell: "You get what you pay for."
I wrote the story, and am working out the story details/staging with my partner-in-crime, Dushan (writer/director of our previous short film, "The Mountain.) I'm doing the bulk of the character designs and animation, & Dushan is contributing his mechanical and architecture skills in modeling cars, buildings, etc.
Some changes have been made to our workflow on this project, learned from our last one. In particular, there will be a greater emphasis on pre-production, especially the animatics.
We're going to be story-boarding for scene one over the next few weeks. (The character's digital models are being built as well, from sketches and Sculpey maquettes.)

Very cool! Can't wait to see it!
If you haven't already, now might be the time to check out Celtx. Amazing tool, you develop storyboard and create resource lists as you go. From character profiles to props to dialog, it almost does everything. See my posts in Celtx forum on usage for animation.

I'll check out your animation usage posts - I used Celtx last year for a live-action short, not bad. Thanks man!

This is just a bit of art slapped together so far from the 3D work already done. It looks very dramatic.

Posing is not dancing...that is just how life is. Posing is better. Posing is Art.

Okay, since I have a whole class devoted to story-boarding, and am now drawing almost every day for school, my boards are getting much better. (Some of our projects are 100 shots long and more.)
This is good it mean that I'll be much better equipped to finish up the boards for "Figure Drawing" after this class. =)
Yay!
Until then, I don't have time =(

Animatic!
During story-boarding
hell class, I developed a much more fluid and expressive style for drawing lots and lots of drawings - and the benefit is, the boards for figure drawing are now in a rough animatic form.
The music is not final, and the timings are rough, camera moves are eh but the basic visual story has been effectively fleshed out.
EDIT: I swapped the Quicktime out for a better compressed & clearer version.

Well, I have only 3 quarters left after this one ends, and after December 18th (Christmas break), I'll be back in production on this film. (I want it completed for my show reel for graduation.)
Right now in 3D animation, Broadcast motion graphics, & Lighting for digital film courses, so super, super busy!

I updated my youtube channel with most of my portfolio work, for internship applications. (My instructor recommended me for several positions.)
Some of it is A:M, some paid work I did this fall with A:M / Maya, and some of it work for class with After Effects.

LOL thanks, I got an email back from one of the companies I had applied to intern for, so I guess they liked what they saw. Now I have an interview with them Thursday morning. We'll see how that goes.
I'm right now taking a quick break from yet another homework assignment, having finished my 30-second advertisement spot for lighting class (

I'll be so glad when this week is over.

Stating Sunday, I have THREE WEEKS OFF.
Bliss.
