Help! I'm trying to run A:M on a newly acquired notebook but to no avail.
It's an ACER ASPIRE 4730z. Basically a Dual Core Intel T3400, 1GB RAM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator for mobile. The OS is Win XP service pack 2.
After installing A:M, I can't start the program. A:M crashes out as it tries to open the choreography window with an error involving the ig4dev32.dll module.
How can I get A:M to work on this notebk? Thanks in advance.

I'm new to the program myself, but it sounds to me like there's an OpenGL conflict. Can you open A:M long enough to change the "Real-time Driver" to "Direct3D v8"? Press Ctrl P on your keyboard, click on the Global tab, and then change the Real-time Driver (bottom left) to Direct3D v8.

A more experienced user is welcome to chime in if I'm wrong. smile.gif

|Edit| It's probably a good idea to make sure you have the most recent version of DirectX for XP as well.

Try to start A:M with "SHIFT"-button pressed. This is the "secure"-mode of A:M, which will try to start with the default-settings. Dont know if it makes a difference because it is just recently installed, but it is worth a try.

If that doesnt work, have a look at the registery, but be sure to not change anything else there!
1.) Go to Start -> "Run..." or "Run As..." and type ine "regedit". Hit Enter and the Registery-editor will open.
2 a.) Go to HKEY_USERS\{SOME SORT OF STRING LIKE "S-1-5-21-329068152-1682526488-725345543-1004"}\Software\Hash, Inc.\Animation Master V15.0\Realtime Render
2 b.) If you cant find it, go to "Edit -> Search" and type in "Hash Inc.", hit "F3" till you got the right entry.
3.) Change the Drivername in the folder "realtime render" to "OpenGL" or "Direct3D v8".

Hope that helps. It may be the problem, but I can't say if it really is. DONT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE IN THE REGISTERY!

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator

I've had issues with the driver for the Intel GMA graphics card before. (Mostly issues with Vista)
Updating the driver has always set me straight.

"ig4dev32.dll" is an Intel driver as far as I can tell.

Thanks so much everyone. The shift key did the trick. It allowed A:M to start and the realtime driver to changed to directx instead of opengl.
Problem solved.

Something I didn't know for many years until I saw Raf Anzovin do it on a troublesome computer...
You can switch back and forth from DirectX to OpenGL as often as necessary. No need to restart A:M in most cases.
This can be useful when going back and forth from final to realtime rendering on systems that don't play nice with A:M.
