I've seen this the odd time. Just in case some don't know, the squetch rig is built to minimise bones. You'll notice that there is no neck bone. To make the neck bend, you just move the head bone......much simpler. To show the difference between just rotating and rotating and moving I did a Trot comparison. I'll let you guess which is which.

I've seen this alot in animation I see on the forum. Not necessarily in the neck, but the arms. Not many people use the shoulder bones when rotating the arms.

It was a trap I got caught in, particularly if you are animating to the camera - you don't always see the poor angle and remember to move the head.
