I've just started using 3dpainter for my project. I've got some basic decals, but I'm ready to add all the details.

The program has a lot of options, but I find it very lacking in that it can only "clone one part of a texture to another part of the *same* texture" (Manual, v. 1.5.3, p. 39).

Maybe there is a trick here, but I can't find one.

Cloning from one image to another is a huge reason to use this sort of program.

If you watch the behind the scenes documentaries for professional FX houses, you'll see the 3d artists open a 3d model, and like magic start painting from reference images. Want some skin? Ok, take it from that guy's face. An eye? Sure, that jpg looks good. Etc.

I'd love to use this program to mix some reference images into a single texture, all while working in 3d space.

Is this possible? Could it be added?

Thanks!

Hi there,

At the moment this is not possible, but it's a good idea and I'll try to add it soon.

Best regards,

Should the clone tool work from one stamp on to another on the same texture? Because I'm finding that's not the case on my project.
