I have Captain Bill and Trot walking side by side for a few seconds,
but the timing doesn't look quite right, I think because, because they both
make there cycles in 24 frames, Bill with limping long legs and very short Trot.
I can't find a way to scale Trot's walk in the cho to complete her cycle in 20 frames,
wich I think would look more proportionate. Is there a way to do it?
If I scale the action in the action window and save the cho, do I override the walk
cycle elswhere in the movie?

You can change the cycle length of the walk action in the chor to whatever you'd like. see image. I changed only the cycle length from 24 to 20. You can do this regardless of the action being embedded or not.

or (alternatively):

If your walk cycle action is embedded in your chor then you can change the cycle length in the action, and not affect the rest of the movie.

If your walk cycle action is not embedded in your chor, and you change the cycle length in the action, then you should save the walk cycle action under a different name in order not to affect usage in the rest of the movie. You must upload this new action to the svn

Thank you Nancy!
That's clear, and useful.
