May be this is something everybody knows about and only I am the one who didnt know, but did you know that A:M has a realtime-displacement-view in the viewport?

I did the following: I wanted to test the "Export Projection"-Feature I recently found by a post of caroline (if I am not wrong.).

So I made a simple shape, exported it to 3dPainter and used the automatic tiling-feature of 3dpainter to map it. Now I went to projectionmode, exported it to Photoshop and in Photoshop, I added noise through a filter.
I saved and back in A:M I changed the map to "displacement".

Next I went to shadedmode and raised the subdivision level to the maximum. I got this image here.

This is a wonderful feature. This would make it possible to use 3d-painter as ZBrush is used to add small details to the models by painting displacementmaps in 3dpainter in Realtime within the viewport!!!
I went back to 3dpainter, but it cant display them till now. But maybe in future? It would be very very cool!

See you

PS: Another example...
It is a little bit more precise and you can see what is possible there:

COOLIO!

SO- you're saying that 3D Painter does not display the projections the same way that A:M does, and that if it did- 3D Painter would act sorta like ZBrush??? That would be some POWERFUL stuff!

THANX!

Yes... if it CAN be ported to 3dpainter (I think it uses the same api, so the functions should be available), it can properly do that.
But Fillip has to comment on this first. I am just assuming that this is possible. Maybe something else does conflict with that.
