The jewels in my crown,
The emeralds in my throne,
The gold in my castle,
I call them my own.
That’s what makes me the richest man,
The world ever knew.
That’s why I’m the king… Ha, ha, ha...
Not you.
No love, no trust, no friendship,
Can satisfy my need,
Nothing fulfills me,
No feeling but this greed,
That’s what makes me the richest man,
The world ever knew.
That’s why I’m the king… Ha, ha, ha...
Not you.
The imperative compel me,
To own everything I see,
I command my soldiers and courtiers,
"Bring it all to me!"
I won't be satisfied with one,
Whenever two will do,
That’s what makes me the richest man,
The world ever knew.
Ah, ha! Oh, ho! Oh, yes!
That’s why I’m the king…
Ha, ha, ha, ha...
Not you.
I won't be satisfied with one,
Whenever two will do,
That’s what makes me the richest man,
Ah, ha! Oh, ho! It's true!
And that’s why I’m the king!
Not you.
At the risk of being 'Greed'-y, I'd like to take a stab at this one, too.

Myron, are you working on Greed? I just wanted to know if this song is available or not.
Thanks.
Will be posting it within a couple of days.
The bronchitis is gone. After six weeks, I can sing again, sort of. Here's Greed. Anything can be changed. I was going for "Ponderous Pomposity".
I did the SVN thing (successfully I think) quite a while ago. Could somebody give me a step by step on how to download the music files and I'll start mixing with Be With You. I don't know the first thing about FTP, but I'm always willing to learn.

If you can't get the files via ftp.
Open up a web browser and download them that way.
Type the following into the address bar:
ftp://ftp.hash.com/SO/Audio/Then click on whatever you want to download.

Dude, that's awesome! You do sound like Johnny.
It's going to be a challenge doing it justice after hearing you sing it. (I'm King Krewl)

Great acting in the singing too. Would be fun to animate.
An observation:
This line:

might be changed to:
That Oz ever knew.

Thanks Guys, (and Gal),
It was a lot of fun to do.
Holmes, you'll do just fine. In the practice version there are temporary snare beats when the chords cut out, to help with timing. They'll come out in the final mix. Let me know if you want it in a different key.
Ken, the words were Martin's. You may know the Grand Poobah well enough to put words in his mouth, but I'm still a newbie.

(Actually I thought about that change, but I wasn't sure. I think you're right though.)
I'll be working on the final mix for 'Be With You' in the next few days.
Mind if I mess with "Blubbity Blub"?

Holmes will be singing it on Thursday... We'll try "Oz" first and see how it sounds.
BTW, we listened to "Greed" many, many times today, here at the house... Everybody loves it!

Hey Myron,
I uploaded a wav file of me singing Greed. It's just my voice, no music. Please let me know if you can use this.
If this recording is OK, I won't have to sing in front of everyone at Martin's house.

I just tried to email it to you Myron but my email bounced, saying your mailbox is full. The file is an 11MB wave file.
Edit: OK, try downloading from the ftp site again using this link:

Do we have a song for Nancy to sing?

How bout it, Nancy? Maybe something about a Goose and a Gander?

Oh I'm sure to get my "just desserts". My ribbing of Holmes and Ken is nervous insecurity (justifiable) on my own true, true inability to sing. I was so hoping for both of them to be really, really awful - but unfortunately, Holmes is also way better than I could have imagined. I am so disappointed, once again.
(Myron - trust me - my uncanny inexplicable singing inability has already been documented for eternity. From what I understand, lots of smoke & mirrors were used to doctor my voice for Yoop's song "I'm Lonely" in the TWO movie. And, it wasn't me who was smoking.)

Holmes, I meant to post before this. I got the track, but I haven't been able to spend any time with it yet to find out how it will work. Pressing personal matters have consumed my free time and will continue to do so for a few more days.
Martin, you were right about "Be With You" needing some pitch correction. I just found out my so-called 'fancy recording machine' does not have pitch correction without a hardware/software add-on investment that is out of the picture for at least now. The free Audiacity downlad has pitch correction but the controls are quite crude and lacks the sophistication to a good job. I have a friend who has software on his computer that I think will do the job, and I'll be getting with him as soon as these personal matters settle down.
I have been writing songs for years, but I'm getting a kick out of writing with this new twist. Now besides, does it move right, sound right and feel right, I ask myself is it "animate-able"? Thanks, Myron
His new release is OUT!!! The "King" is now releasing his follow up to that timeless classic, "Don't Be Krewel", captured in the Throne Room Lounge in downtown Bremerton. I present to you . . . "GREED"

Its a tradition with me to make at least one suggestion with these songs...
This may be one of the most perfect songs for the movie thus far so this is tougher than the others to approach. Let me say... this song as it is provides some great character acting opportunity!
As always... standard opinion disclaimer applies.
I'm thinking in terms of integration into the animation/
My suggestion would be to stop the music and voice the last words emphatically without music.
In other words King, Krewl breaks out of the song and matter of factly states, "Thats why I'm the King. Not you."
The effect to be gained by this is the song is immediately interrupted and the dialogue gives the audience the cue necessary to move on with the movie. And King Krewl's acting would provide the means to do it.
Alternately, I wonder how the lyrics here would sound without the music or dimmed down considerably.
Are the voice and music tracks separate?
The idea would be to have the music play until the lyricks start.
King Krewl would then go 'live' sans music.
As necessary the music could start again after the lyricks end but I think the action will have moved on by then.
This unless he's going all extravagant like and has a band playing in the scene to accompany him. The counterpoint of him singing without backup would be a good way too suggest that while he may be incredibly rich he still doesn't everything he needs.
More grist for the fodder mill from me but that me thinkin'.
(Its a very easy song to remember. Very singable.)
