John Bigboote
Hi- I'm Matt Campbell, aka 'John BigBoote' (Big-Boot-ay) and this forum has the intention of exploring the possibilities of Animation:Master V15's included feature- 'Newton Physics'.

I am a TV-commercial/graphics animator and have recently used Newton Physics in a spot or 2 with a good deal of success. I will be sharing the animations with you in the near future and will share the method used to achieve the gravitational effect.

My goal for this forum is to 'get the ball rolling' by outlining the ease of activating objects to become gravitational or static obstacles-as well as performing the 'simulations' that create gravity animation. I would also like to (eventually) update the classic 'cosmic bowling' tutorial with a similar bowl using Newton Dynamics. Eventually, we will delve deeper into Newton Dynamics other features and uses.

I encourage anyone to post questions, share tests and settings or play 'imagineer'.

UPDATE: Rodney has informed me of all the pertinent links for Newton Dynamics. Thanks Rodney, a font of information!

Steffen Gross's Newton Dynamics page (with projects) can be found here:
http://www.sgross.com/plugins/plugin6/samples.html

additional words on ND are written here:
http://www.hash.com/NewtonPhysics/

The Newton Physics program itself can be explored here:
http://www.newtondynamics.com/ (Steffen's plugin gets a plug and A:M gets a link on their Links page)

The earlier version of ND is no longer available at Steffen Gross's plugin page but his other plugins can be had there:

Great pizza commercial Matt...it will be nice to see Newton's uses displayed and explored.

Cool! Ive been wanting to use Newton for the explosion of a model . I'm remodeling a granade i had made using imagine on my amiga a long while ago.

Like your commerical.

A NEWTON PHYSICS CONTEST!!!!!

that might be a good way to get the ball rolling...

Thats a great idea. You could expand that to to include all sorts of features in hash. Each month you could go through a plugin, wizzard, etc.

OK, I think I'm just being dense here, but I can't seem to find the Newton Physics plugin to download anywhere, can someone help me out?

I don't usually have this much trouble but the results look sweet!

Thanks

Tony

(Ah, I just read somewhere it's built into A:M 13, is it just built in now smile.gif I'm on v 15d)

Yes Sir. Newton Physics comes standard with v15. smile.gif
Isn't life sweet.

Thanks Rodney... I've been out-the-loop of late. Good news... I am doing another 'Newton' TV commercial like the pizza one, this time it is snow-flakes in a snow globe (Christmas-style ornament.)

I also plan to make a 'skeet-ball' project to introduce new users to the simulating process in a fun way.

Thanks for the welcome, I found that tutorial and decided to use it - very useful and very well and creatively put.

I wanted to make a wall and have my char walk through it, so I found a brick plug in and made my brick and built a wall.

However when I start my animation bricks just start falling off the top from the outset and by the time my character reaches the wall most of it has fallen down. Plus when the bricks hit the ground they keep moving around.

I think I am missing something here, I tried to widen the bricks but that made no difference. I'm going to need help on this so I'll start my own thread in here tonight and I'll post a rendered vid of the wall as it is and see if you guys can help me.

What I really want is to animate it as though my character is smashing through the wall and just leave a hole he can step through. I am really a total A:M novice so I'm just learning I had left this to carry on with TAOA:M and at the weekend I completed the Smoke Wind and fire tutorial.

And out of interest does anyone know if there is a running tutorial out there, I really need to animate my character running, I can adapt one if someone has a human running tutorial, but my lack of knowledge means I don't know where to start really.

Thanks

Tony

Let us show Your projectfile ,than it's easier to say what is happend, what should be changed.
