Hi TWOers,

Since the forum is a bit slow at the moment, I would like to ask
what the actual state of TWO is:

How far is the movie from being finished?

Has it been sold yet?

Is it interesting to take part only for learning purposes or
is it possible to make some decent extra money as well?

When will the production of the sequel start?

Jake?

KenH
TWO is close to being transfered to dvd. Not sure how close.
So nothing sold yet.
It's not really a money making machine.....yet? So, a learner is the perfect match.

Watch this space.

Two is being rendered now with Hashes render farm plus webrender INTERNET render farm which everyone can help out with if you wish just look for thread.

The movie is still not done one team is still very close to getting it ready to send to rendering so you will still see some action in animation section tell that is done. Soon hopefully.

Is is Sold?

Martin has stated that he has ? deposits/offers in some regions of Europe but nothing for north America yet or is likely to happen given the structure of the north American market.

Is this a learning experience or a decent money making opportunity?

IMHO it's a learning experience if you want to teach your self but have something to push you to practice on. I still have my fingers kinda crossed about maybe someday we might make some money but that is wishful thinking. Also the conditions of being paid is laid out and it is possible to have long periods of time tell your work is at a paying stage of process. Next is the next movie has zero paying budget unlike TWO so it is strictly learning IMHO.

The next movie is in pre- production stage now no idea when Animation will begin. I need to get my stuff done on TWO so I can help out on next Project.

Now that TWO is "in the can", where should I ask folks who worked on it what lessons were learned on this project? I'm curious how A:M changed when faced with the challenges of a feature film length and scope project. Was compositing used much? Was a version locked down for production?

Thanks,

This General discussion forum would probably do.

Some bugs were found and fixed. For the most part, however, A:M was much more ready for a movie than we were.

I can't tell you a percentage. I suspect it could have been used much more to cut render times than it was.

I don't recall an official lock down, we sort of rolled through the versions over four years.

Thanks for the feed back. TWO is a major accomplishment. And, unless someone was part of the process, I'm sure no one will know all the effort it took.

My hat's off to all of you. smile.gif

For TWO, it wasn't used much at all. For SO (Scarecrow of Oz), it was used much much more. I don't know if it cut down on initial render times, but it sure did cut down on *Re*-render times. Many of the scenes were separated into foreground/background renders. It was mostly the characters that had to be re-rendered due to render anomolies/conflicting constraint-wierdness/hair issues/etc/etc/etc.... Since they were mostly rendered in a separate pass (especially in the second half of the movie), they were much faster to re-render.

You have no idea huh.gif OMG, it's a heck of a lot of work. Anybody who attempts it is CRAZY!! ... oh, wait ....

It should be noted that Holmes and crew took the lessons learned from TWO and put that to very good use in 'Scarecrow of Oz'.

The team on SO is a tiny fraction of the workforce (a skeleton crew) when compared to the number of people who worked on TWO and not only have they maintained the first film's production value I find they've plussed them up!

These folks are getting very good at what they do.
