Mr. Lloyd, I apologize in advance. This post is not a review of any sort. It is the basis of the strange tricks my mind plays on me.

--------
You know how there are sometimes a bunch of thumbnails and links to the gallery and AM films at the top of the forum? I just take them for granted. Sometimes one of my own images might pop up in there and catch my eye. Sometimes the same images show up over and over.

A thumbnail for this image for a short animation on AM Films appears all the time at the top of the forum. I see it almost every time I come here. It appears much smaller when I see it (click the link).

I can't remember how long I've seen it there but it is almost like a branding statement for the AM forums. Every time I see this image I think I know what it is but apparently I've always been wrong.

For as long as I can remember I have thought it was an image of a plucked dead alien chicken/bird of some kind. The head is on the leff facing away from the camera, with little frills coming off the top. The right wing is sticking out on top and there are spiny frills on the "back". the legs have either been removed (little stubs on the right side) or are sort of under the body somehow.

It helps if you "squint" at the image a little. I literally NEVER saw the frog. Every time I saw this... never saw the frog.

Suddenly today I thought... that is just crazy. It can't be an alien bird.... what the heck is this thing... so I clicked on it. Now I'm very confused... I see the frog AND the dead chicken. I still see the dead alien chicken.... and then the frog pops into view...

To be honest even though the frog is very well done and the animation amazing... I'm sad that the alien chicken doesn't really exist as an artistic statement. It was more powerful in that respect than the frog. The dead alien chicken filled me with dread and... questions... how did it die? Was it lasered? Did it get too close to a volcano? Or maybe it was poisoned by a deadly tree frog.... hmm....

Anyway. My brain is strange. i won't deny this... but is it possible anyone else might have seen the alien chicken? If not could someone pretend they did so I don't feel... odd?

wink.gif

p.s. Maybe I should model the alien chicken myself. It doesn't exist so it's not like copyright infringement...

EDIT:

Here is what I saw:

Vern has an artist's ability to think outside the frog.

Okay... but... you CAN see the dead alien chicken now that I pointed it out to you, yes?

Vern is this one of those religious sighting?? Where people see saints etc in everything from coffee stains to shadows on the wall. Maybe the aliens are giving you a sign or you could trying cleaning your glasses. Maybe Nancy G could help she is into birds.

No________________________________ Sorry sad.gif

But I know how you feel I have seen things that others can not and still can not? Ok see if you see what I see step back from a PC CRT screen about 15 to 20 feet while it is on and eat an apple or smack teeth together as if you were eating something. Does the screen flicker I have yet to find someone that sees this and most people look at me funny and walk away saying nothing happens when they do it?

I see this all the time. You get a weird vibrating strobe effect. I watch DVD's on my computer a lot and can't eat chips or everything vibrates.

Here's one for you. Only I can see this and I have to have a specific pair of my prescription glasses on.... the ones with the scratch resistant coating. When wearing those glasses, if I look at any printed material that has a bright red ink of any kind... the red print on the paper appears to float off the page. Literally like a 3D effect.

This only happens with one pair of glasses I have. It has never happened before these glasses or since. It must have been some kind of manufacturing flaw or the scratch resistant coating. For some reason the red wavelength bouncing off of printed materials creates a very pronounced 3D effect only when I wear these specific glasses. Words printed in bold red ink float off the page at least 3/4 to 1 inch.

It works best with red on a black background.

Come on! You really can't see the chicken? Even with the diagram I created? Really? No chicken?

okay I see your chicken but my question is why were you looking at the frog upside down
heyvern
I was not looking at it upside down. What I saw initially was a DEAD alien chicken lying on its side as if it had died suddenly and fell down with it's head facing away and down towards the viewer.

I never saw the frog until I clicked the link just recently.

It's OK Vern. I totally got it as soon as you mentioned it. I only could see it in the thumbnail, like you said. It looks like a plucked and dried (Chicken Jerky), dead, alien chicken.

Vern,

I tried to rally to your support WEEKS ago but your forum was blocked then. I eventually complained to the powers that be and registered my support here:

http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showforum=13.

I obviously haven't learned that pesky post a shortcut trick, yet. In the Forums forum: Simon Says. ( Don't have that "quote" thing down yet either.

Myron

Wow! The shortcut trick worked!! Now back to that pesky Alpha layer thing. . . . . .

You must be really good at those puzzles that look like a jumble of color but contain a hidden picture wink.gif

So do I and I live there! You don't want to get inside my head.

p.s. I had Fried Alien ChickenŽ for dinner at my family reunion AND on the 4th of July.

I still see the chicken. It's always up there on the top of the screen, mocking me.

Being Vernon Zehr...out of work animator finds a portal into Vern's head while frying alien chickens at a local fast food joint...

That's amazing! You really do see dead alien chickens! So after 15 minutes inside your head, where do we fall out? wink.gif

Wow! this is so cool, I can't believe my creation caused such a topic, thats cool.

Vern thanks for your nice comments (when you found out it was actually a frog) and I'm glad I inspired you to actually model a Dead Burnt Alien Chicken from a rotated thumbnail of my frog. <That sentence is awesome!

I am now inspired to make Dead Burnt Alien Chickens!

Go Dead Burnt Alien Chickens!

heyvern
Ah! The creator of my alien chicken hallucination!

My question now would be this, if you create a model of an alien chicken... will it appear to be a frog?
