I making a project for school about the book "The Westing Game" duh duh duh, Anyway i am pretty much giving a animated tour. I am showing Sunset Towers and the Westing House and the inside of The Westing House. So inside the westing house in need to make some horror lighting so what would be the best way to do this.

dark? candles? torches? moonlight? lightning?
I think the classic horror situation of a face being lit from below originates from the premise of carrying candles around in dark places. Or standing near a fireplace.

I've had good results with low intensity bulbs either as ceiling lights or as origin for candle lights. You can try and experiment with some volumetric lights as well. Don't forget that you can also use negative values for lights, so they can actually be targets to dim a certain part of a scene. Just create the house or room models and start playing with the lights. Don't get too caught up with bouncing lights and such because it will take too long to get everything perfect - if ever. Also remember to use a little bit of ambiance on key items to make them seem like they glow in the dark. Eyes glowing in an otherwise dim room.

Hey John, now just add a little film grain/burn, a skinny old creature shying away from the camera with beedy glowing eyes whilst sitting in a wheelchair and you've got the makings of a very scary scene
