Version 15.0 Beta 1 is now available.
Information and download info for the Web plugin can be found here:
http://www.hash.com/hamrIt is recomended to use v15.0b or higher to create HAMR content (not all feature will work in older versions.) More info about creating content can be found in the above web link.
Standalone HAMR Viewer:
HA:MR Viewer Installer[25m]
Have fun & please report any issues to
A:M Reports (There is now a separate project for reporting WebHamr issues.)
Changes in HAMRViewer V15.0 Beta 1
- Now uses A:M V15 code base.
- Fixed patch count bug.
- Added fog enable
- Fixed Rotoscope display problem.
- SHIFT (fast) and CTRL (slow) keys now modify keypress actions speed
- Full avatar flying actions support added.
- PageUp and PageDown changed from patch splitting to camera up and down.
Also causes primary avatar to fly. - Collision detection fixed. Apparently broken in alpha 4
- Camera and avatar movement acceleration/deceleration added
- Flying avatar can now land on any surface.
- Avatar turns now occur smoothly.
- Collision detection improved to go down to figure patch level accuracy.
- Improved "step" detection so avatar can go up stairs better.
- Loading of binary saved prjb files fixed. (A version compatibility issue)
- Python scripting exposure of A:M SDK and HAMR API added.
- A:M files can be loaded via scripts.
- Dynamic geometry can be created via scripts.
- GUIs can be created via scripts with Tcl/tk.
See \PythonScripts\HamrScript1.py for HAMR API and A:M SDK usage. This script
also dynamically creates a blue cylinder geometry and applies dynamic action
to Avatar2.
See \PythonScripts\solitaire.py for GUI usage.
Python scripting is computer programming, therefore an advanced feature. - Proceduaral sky, clouds, sun, moon, stars and planets added. This is only
enabled when in a "metahamr" mode. Open \PythonScripts\HamrScript1.py to
see these features. It is interesting to use the '2' view key with this. - The U and Y keys can be used to move time fast forward or fast backward.
- Basic avatar shadows were added.
- CHO file import was added. Multiple CHO's can be imported into a single scene.
- Several example prj files are now provided in the \Samples folder.
These are text prj files where the models have been pre-rigged with HAMR
interactivity so you can load them into A:M and learn how this is done.
Typically you can use the arrow keys to move these avatars or press F2-F5
to create action/pose transitions or mouseover to trigger pose transitions. - A lot of the HAMR development work over the past year has been associated
with developing a MetaHAMR "metaverse" social networking system. Most of
this was done at the HAMR API level so HAMRViewer benefits from those new
capabilities. HAMRViewer is not the metaverse application however. More to
come on that later.
Changes in WebHAMR V15.0 Beta 1
- Fixed patch count bug.
- Added fog enable
- Fixed Rotoscope display problem.
- SHIFT (fast) and CTRL (slow) keys now modify keypress actions speed
- Full avatar flying actions support added.
- PageUp and PageDown changed from patch splitting to camera up and down
Also causes local avatar to fly.
- Display of binary saved prjb files fixed.
- Basic avatar shadow was added.
- CHO file import was added. Multiple CHO's can be imported into a single project.
You will probably have to re-setup any projects with embedded HAMR plugin properties.
The easiest way to do this is go to the Chor level and just reselect plugin properties.
great news! thanks for the release!
now i gotta go see what all this avatar stuff is about...

This is truly great, but Apparently doesn't work with Firefox. Are there plans to support other, (some might say 'better') browsers?
Great work guys.

They know about the Safari/Firefox issue. I'm guessing they probably want to stick with one web browser until HAMR gets a little farther along. Apparently, implementing the web plugin is very different between browsers.

I think the URL for the stand alone viewer is
ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/HA...erInstaller.exeThat one is 25MB, not 5MB

I have had TREMENDOUS success in keeping my computer virus/pop-up/trouble-free by disabling IE... I'll happily re-enable it to work with HA:MR data of mine and my colleagues work...I look forward to it! However, getting HA:MR onto FireFox might be a different story, seeing as it's free-source based.
Does anyone know of the estimated figures of browser usage by percentage worldwide? IE, FF, Safari, NN, etc?

As far as percentages of users, unfortunately IE is still WAY out in the lead. I think FF is "second". As far as I know NN is gone... capoot... phibt... it is no longer being developed, see here:
End of Support for Netscape web browsersI am not sure and don't quote me but I think FF, the last time I looked, had something around 16% market share?
I know this sounds like a small number... but still... that is a lot of people. I am pretty sure Hash is still working on a hammr plugin for Mozilla browsers.

I don't depend on the browser to keep pests out, that's what the firewall and Antivirus are for. So far, no problems

IE still has ~ 54%, FireF ~36%, Safari ~2%

I only mention that because of what I read:
"Be careful, you will be welcomed with opened arms and outstretched teeth by the minions of Mordor, and their claim of "everything is free" is an enticing one. Programming wizards and technical leprechauns especially beware."
ON THE OTHER HAND: here's an interesting thread from 11 months ago I just discovered...or REdiscovered... WHAT ever happend to Colin Freeman, did we lose him?

Thank you

I have waited for an update of this great technology. I will try it out as soon as possible

Browsers:
It depends of your clients / visitors.
For example at my webpage I have more visitors which are using FireFox than IE. (about 65% FF, 28% IE)
For more technical / computer-based / hightech-clients and websites you will very likely find more FF and Opera in use than IE.
IE however is often used by less computersave-persons because they just have it available at their installation of Windows.

There are more samples under the 'wiki' link...it's been quite a while, several links are dead- but at least half are still kickin...including my 'Bikini Strummer'
i was only able to get webhamr working on my vista/ie7 machine by turning off protected mode.
is there another trick, cuz i know people will whine.
thanks!

But shouldn't the KeeKat demo make some visible image? It seems to load something and I hear sounds...

Yes- The KeeKat demo has KK standing center screen dancing and rollover effects him to duck.
