I was thinking something like this for witchys residence. The cauldron in the center would create alot of smoke. What do you think? Should I develop it? Suggestions?
martin
Smoke coming out of the tree is an interesting idea.

I like the smoke coming out of the tree as well - I think it might look more interesting if more roots of the tree enveloped and obscured the house more so that only the door was exposed.

Or use vegetation to obscure the house?

That's cool. I like the concept.

I imagine the path to her house would be narrower and not as straight. I seems like she doesn't get many visitors.

I totally re-did the landscape. Now it's a sort of maze made from hills (thanks for the suggestion Holmes) and also made the roots more prominent (thanks Nancy). I intend to put particle grass on the green areas but it slows things alot. I might leave it for a month or so. Also, I'm not sure abou the rock texture.
I'm finding it difficult to add more and more splines to keep the path looking like it should even at low realtime resolution. I'll get there though.

Hey Ken, could you possibly place a camera next to the door and point it at the closest rock/cliff face and see what a render looks like? I'm wondering how that material will appear close up.
KenH
Good point. It's a little blocky, but as a background we might get away with it. But I think I'll be replacing it anyway.

Ku-Klip's Workshop is a house in the roots of a tree... Is that a better place to start?
KenH
What do you mean by start? Do you not like the idea of witchs house being in the tree?

Of course! Ku-Klip's House IS in a tree. Starting from that you can get a lot of already complete and textured modeling.

You're better off starting new, things will start looking too familiar.

Something like Alain's or Bob's original sketches for Ku Klip's exterior may work better. I tried finding the original sketch with no luck. I thought it use to be on the TWO wiki, but I couldn't find it. I searched the TWO archives with no luck either.
mtpeak2
I found it. With a more eerie feel to it though.
