Robert, Here is just rough blocking of the 2 contact poses, no breakdown yet, just 2 poses. It's in an action, but I rendered it in the choreography to see it better.

In your generic walk video you spaced the feet 70cm for TW; here It's 55cm, approx. proportional for winkie height.
robcat2075
Good start! I'll put some notes together on how to go from here...

That looks like the right size.

Here they are...

the "silent beat" thing may be the hardest part to animate to. But we'll see. wink.gif

thanks!

Robert, sorry it's taking so long; this is tougher than it looked. Here's what I got so far:

it's closer than it was!

If I said to use those standing-in-place bounces to get momentum for going into the next step, would that mean anything?

Yes it means something (something like energy in a spring?) - and as soon as I can figure out what it looks like I'll try to do it.

I didnt' have time to do a crit yet so I thought I 'd just throw that out there. smile.gif If you have a moment, take a look at the pitch vid and pay close attention to where the weight is going vs. when the feet move.
robcat2075
ok, here are some better notes on how that motion works...

Robert, I hope this is a step in the right direction:

Yes, it is. A few more steps to go here...

Robert, I think I got the hips a little closer to following the path you laid out; but I don't think the overall result is much better:

If I get time before I hear from you I'll keep trying to improve it.

Thanks,
spacecomics
Here's just a bit more adjustment, mainly where the hips loop back on that first step:

Thanks.

Hi Roger, since you said you were thinking taking that further, I'm going to go ahead and post what I have done so far on the crit.

update your 2_01_82.prj. It has three actions in it now.

Action1 is your last work
Action1_Roger01 is what I reverted to work from in the crit
Action1_Roger03 is as far as I got by the end of the crit

so watch the crit and you can compare the motion on all three actions and use any of them to go forward with.

Robert, just wanted to let you know I am working on this -- slowly. Thanks for being so thorough, I've been studying your crit video and learning, slowly, but to catch up now I'm continuing from the last you committed, Action1_Roger03. Thanks!

Slow is good. smile.gif It's more likely that I will eventually catch up.

I only did a tiny bit more, Robert. Mostly just tried to follow through with the hip motion you indicated, and even up the timing of the beats:

Sorry I couldn't find more time to go far with it, due to some other problems taking up my time.

Thanks again,
Roger

HI Roger, it's real close now...

2_01_82_v06commentsMP4.mov

Update the PRJ; it has the various actions I mention already loaded along with the alternate Generic Winkie

thanks!
spacecomics
Here it is with 13 Winkies:

And here is just the last pass of the action, with the right arm & eye target animated:

Robert, thanks for breaking it down in detail in your video, it amazes me that what I used to think would be a simple step has so many factors.
spacecomics
Oops! In the above I forgot to vary the timing of the actions. Here it is with some winkies starting a few frames sooner or later:

Hi Roger,

Here are some notes on pants and other things:

thanks!

Now they're arranged into two denser rows, the right arm is reanimated, and I added very simple lip-sync (check the timing, I'm still not good at seeing that). I had left some of them on the default colors deliberately, but now only one and a half remain that way, and some have the skin, hair, & other sliders adjusted. The master eye-target tracking was off, so I fixed that, but it still looks odd to me - maybe something else wrong with the eyes. Had some trouble after revising the action - it wouldn't take to some of the winkies, but I deleted and re-added it in those cases - and had to delete and re-add the winkie in one case - and I think it's working now:

Roger if you have time and you repost a final rendering too see the eyes final show there eyes better
robcat2075
That's looking much better, Roger. Less was more on the right arm i think.

maybe you have show backfacing patches off and that woudl explain why we see thru their heads. ohmy.gif It's possible their eyes have some backwards patches.
spacecomics
Thanks Mark & Robert. I tried re-rendering with back facing polys on. Maybe it's a little better, but still has the same problem, and now the files too big to upload; I'll try to figure it out more later.
robcat2075
What other codecs show up when you set the Quicktime coded in A:M.

I notice your mov is in "Animation" which will make the biggest files.

Thanks - I don't know how hit got on Animation - I just changed it back to Sorenson Video 3 (there are many choices including Sorenson and Cinepak). Here it is:
