So, this is v15, not beta v15? Just trying to stay unconfused. wink.gif smile.gif Looks sweet!

I think I owe Hash Inc. another $100 this year... smile.gif

Wow... Did I miss the memo... What a change... Might have to tell a few friends about this... $50 is darn affordable...

(but I think I'll keep my CD for now...)

Will, Where did the option for render Threads go?!

Been a while since I signed in here.. Very happy to see the non-CD version available (I just installed it). Perhaps the biggest obstacle to me actually sitting and using A:M is that I've always had to locate the CD (and pray it wasn't scratched), very glad you decided to do away with (or offer another option instead of) the CD-dongle.

Though I purchased and installed it today, I've got other work that has to get done, so it'll probably be at least a week before I have a chance to use it. The price was 1/2 what I paid the last few years to 'keep it going' so it was a no-brainer to renew now. The web activation is a 'big deal'. I love it alredy.

UPDATE (Editing post): I couldn't resist and launched the app and did a few quick renders -- I don't know whether it's my new PC (a Core 2 Duo) or optimizations you made, or a combination of the two, but there are some major usability improvements here in terms of rendering time. Stuff that used to take 15 seconds or more is finishing in under 2-3 seconds (a render of a sample 'actor' on the stage, or even that 'bowling' sample scene). I think I'm going to finally enjoy using this more with these latest optimizations.

UPDATE 2: It seems to work really well with multiple monitors as well, never tried with old versions so I don't know if it's new. That is, I can leave the choreography/stage on one monitor, and drag away all the utility windows (pose sliders, properties, library) onto the second monitor (outside of the a:m window) and this leaves one monitor with just the animation workspace, and the other monitor with the tools and utilities to build the scene with.

Does this work with the OZ CD version of AM I purchased last summer 07?

Thanks in advance,

Gustavo,
This is the new release for 2008.
Unless I've missed something it won't work with the Oz CD... its an entirely new CD.
(The new CD may have Oz characters on it this year too... not sure though)

How is Netrender handled as a Hash product under the new Web subscription?
It would be a dumb question, but it's not listed as a separate product, and a search for "netrender" under the forums doesn't return any threads regarding subscriptions.

Netrenderer is dropped for now... you cant buy it anymore. I am hoping that the WebRenderClient of TWO will be available in future, which could be a nice replacement of the net-renderer but till then,
it isn't sold by Hash anymore. This decission was made before the websubscription came out so.

So you have to buy several websubscriptions or the cd-version of A:M and do the rendering-list by hand at the different computers.

Hi, everyone,

Still using an ancient version 8.5. How does the latest incarnation of A:M work under Vista and a Core 2 Quad? Does the software take advantage of the processing power?

thanks...

Turn Aero off and it is working quite well... yes A:M can use both cores.
I would however recommend to use XP Prof. if you can. It is just so much faster... the same machine can gain up to 30-50% with XP instead of Vista... (this is not only true for A:M but for most other software too.
The only thing vista does better is, that it can support more RAM... so if you got for example 8 GB of RAM it will be used. XP cant use that much ram... it can only use 2 GB / 3 GB of Ram...

You should have a look at this thread: XP, Vista, 32 / 64 bit

A:M enveloped a LOT since 8.5... I started with 8.0 and stayed with it and there are interface-changes and many new features which will give you a much better workflow...

I loved v8.5p++. That was a very sweet program.
As great as it was however the current versions blow it out of the water.

The ability to Stitch splines alone is well worth the upgrade.
Add in the other features and you've got even more reason.

I've been using A:M v14 (and now v15) on Vista for months now.
Intially I had problems with the graphics card. A few months later and an with an updated driver the problems were gone.

Vista's main issues for me are unrelated to A:M.
I've not had an OS crash on me this often... ever. Dispite the problems though I find I like Vista enough to keep it.
Like Fuchur though I suggest Windows XP for absolute best performance.
If Microsoft issues a new update I'll reevaluation that recommendation.

I'm sure the primary reason is that my laptop is running on only 1GB of RAM.
As long as you are running at least 2GB you should be fine.

Watch out for your graphics card though... I have refresh problems occasionally in several other programs.
Interestingly enough however I no longer have them with A:M.

I ran v8.5 on Vista about 6 months ago. I still love that version but cannot return. wink.gif
